Keep Your Eyes Peeled!! TRD Tundra Coils

Hi guys,

I am in the process of gathering parts to swap my OME lift for the "Tundra Lift." I am up in Canada but I have been searching for almost 5 months now and haven't came across the Y/Y, Y/B Tundra TRD coils ANYWHERE. I live close to the US border so if I can find a set, I will have them shipped to a warehouse in the US and I'll go pick them up.

Help a T4R brother out and keep your eyes peeled for me! I would appreciate the help as I'm not too keen on spending $240 for new ones.

Ahh..man I've been looking for about 5 months now too. They are definitely not easy to come by used. I'm just about to fold and buy them new:/ Good luck.

Be patient and use Search Tempest. I found a set from an 04 with 45K with the Billies for $100 for the pair.

try car-part.com, search for the "trd/bilstein etc" in the filter.

I found mine on there, and had both springs and shocks shipped to my house for $125ish.

I would probably do it differently if I had to do it again. I didn't get the 2.5" of lift I was looking for, and I think it rode pretty crappy. I ended up getting the Bilstein 5100s and putting the yy/yb coils on them. Rides a lot better and sits pretty even with the 5125s and LC springs in the rear. Basically I guess, just buy the springs if you can.

I got new TRD Tundra coils on shoptrd.com for $255 shipped. Got the a pair of Tundra rubber isolators from wheelers offroad for like $19 shipped. I paired it with Tundra Bilstein 5100 shocks set on the lowest perch (no preload or top-out spacers). I got exactly 2" compared to my stock 2000 SR5 V6 4x4 coils.

I tried to find used too but it was not worth the hassle. Don't forget that buying used means you'll have to compress assembly to separate the coils from the existing old shocks if you want to use new ones. That in itself is worth time and money.

Also, the only way to get 2.25" or more is to install a top-out spacer, a pre-load spacer, or in the case of Tundra Bilstein 5100s, raising it up on one of the 5 perch settings. Also, I needed to get some Rancho dust boots because the existing 4runner covers on the Tokicos aren't removable. End result, the ride and handling is great and comfortable. Can't imagine any other front suspension combination that I'd rather have. The progressive Tundra coils are nice and plush for everyday driving.

Long story short, buy new and don't look back. They'll be 30% more than new OME coils but well worth it if you're looking for progressive spring rates and OEM feel.

In the drop down menu on the main page, select:

-I used 2003
-Toyota Tundra
-Strut(see also knee asmbly)
-Your location and search filter

The next screen will ask you to select:
-------
Front, 4x2, off road pkg
Front, 4x2, w/o off road pkg
Front, 4x4, off road pkg
Front, 4x4, w/o off road pkg
-------

Select 4x4 off road pkg. Most of the parts descriptions have "bilstein shock option" in them. Call the junkyard and make sure the springs on the vehicles have the yy/yb paint code before purchasing.

Tundra rear shocks won't fit on 4Runner. Maybe with eye stud adapter but not as standalone replacements.

I'm a bit confused on this, you say you searched for trd/bilstein, put them on the truck, weren't happy with the ride, so replaced the struts with bilstein 5100's? What bilsteins come with the TRD springs then, and what is the difference?

So... I have a set of tundra and blist. that im thinking about putting on my truck. The max lift I can get out of them is 2.5? The blist. that came off the tundra arent adjustable I dont think? I found a set of cruiser springs from another junkyard, he said they are labled pink white yellow. On the lift faq, they dont show those color codes.
