looking around found some cheap new tires for sale on craigslist

245/75/16 $484 set of 4, 10ply M/T
seems pretty cheap, reviews on the internet seem like they last ~30k miles. anyone have experience with these tires?
looking to pick up a set before I come home from Wisconsin in a couple weeks. will take them to a local shop and have them mounted and balanced

Never hard of them but almost all M/T are rated around 30k miles. I usually get about 25k depending on how I watch air pressure. M/T's really like low pressure to get a good tire tread wear.

alright good info to know. I might try these out over the winter. on two and a half weeks training with the guard so gonna have some extra money.
gotta have my rear diff cover replaced sometime soon. its rusted and seeps through the cover.

I ran a set of these on my Zuk (pre-4Runner), they wore even and looked pretty tough.They have tread for days, super deep lugs, and good shoulder lugs too. They were heavy for their size, big complaint for a Zuk, maybe not as big a deal for a 4Runner. They were pretty loud tho, that was my wifes biggest complaint about them, couldn't hardly hear yourself think, but it was a very small convertible too. I honestly didn't think it was that bad. Probably about normal for an aggressive M/T.

I bought them on price too, they were too good to pass up. I had never heard of them or seen them in person before I got them, I bought them on Amazon.

Over all I thought they were a pretty good tire and would recommend them if you can handle M/T howling. I only ran them for about 15,000 miles, so I can't really say how long a set would last, but on my 2500 lb Zuk I would say that I had probably 75% tread left when I sold the truck (15K on the tires)

Well... Axel housing cover? I don't know. The part that covers your differential, and has the fill plug to your rear axle housing. I just associate it with the differential because that's what's on the other side of it. Sorry for the confusion.

I have them in 285's. Look good, don't think they are too loud, and they seem to ride just fine. I do a lot of beach driving and they work well in that when aired down.

I was just wondering because your rear axle doesn't have a diff cover, it has a drop out third member so I was confused as to whether you were talking about replacing the third or replacing the entire axle housing, or just trying to fix the rust.

Oh wow. Ok lol so you're gonna chop the axle diff portion off, makes sense. It might be easier to just find another housing and just swap everything over though. Cool product, good luck!

Would it be easier to do it that way? I think it would cost a LOT more money to do it like that wouldn't it?
My neighbor is very reasonable when it comes to that stuff and would probably do it for really cheap. Maybe $50?
I don't know how much a rear housing would cost didn't even think to consider that. Thanks

I like your solution better now, because I'm guessing you live east coast and it'll prob be a pain to find another housing that is rust free haha. Plus that barnes cover is 1/4", so it's an upgrade anyway. Post pics when you do it! :cheers:

If I had the money to. I'd have another 4runner and be working on a duramax Allison swap.. Haha but that'd take a LOT of work and time lmao. Just a dream one may only wish for...
