So My 97's key fob has finally busted and I am looking for a new replacement but I would like to convert it to a single blade or pop-open kind like the ones in the pics attached
if anyone has any info on doing this please post it up here.
Thanks

I attempted to do a FOB like the single-key one in your first pic. Problem is that the only blank keys I could find for the 4Runner that had an attached FOB were absolute pieces of sh*t.

That's what my buddy said also......

do you have any pics of yours?

Sorry for the delay. Completely spaced on posting the pics. Also forgot that I sent the original key back. I had bought two different keys. One with the internals and one without. The one with the internals was the one that was a POS (got it to work, but died within two weeks) and sent that back.

Here's a link to the one I bought off ebay:

New Replacement Uncut Ignition Keyless Entry Remote Head Fob Key Combo for 4D 67 | eBay

And here are a couple of pics of the 2nd one I bought that's just the FOB and no internals. I bought this one off Amazon and it's MUCH better as far as build. Maybe you can take the internals of an OEM one and put it in this type and it would work.

*edit* I do think one of the issues (and I could be wrong) with using an OEM set of internals is that they might not be able to program with the 4Runner alarm.

So as for the second one in the pics, Do you have any pics on how to put the internals in? or is it just pretty straight forward?

Thanks for all your help.

The internals are self-enclosed, so swapping them is super simple.
