i was wondering how many keys come with the truck.
I did a search and nothing came up.

Push the dealer to give you an extra key if needed. They cost too much to get on your own.

I went there today and they told me the old owner only turned in those keys. They said $100 for a new key. If my wife didnt love it so much i would have asked for my old car back and they could have theres back. Whats a 100 bucks to them :gun5:

Carmax did the same thing to me.

Between the missing key and a missing cup holder insert, I am no fan of Carmax. They go on and on about their 120 point inspection, but when I bought my 4runner from them I wasn't told of the missing items.

And, on top if it all, I had problems registering my car because they didn't bother listening to me and messed up the paperwork.

Before anyone asks, I would have returned it under their 5 day guarantee but I got a smoking deal. And I love my 4runner! :becky:

Like others have said we got two remote keys and a valet key. Also included was a small metal tag with the key code. You need that too have a new key made.

I bought a valet key for my 2013 TE on ebay for $25 with the chip. Had a swap meet guy cut it for $2. A local locksmith wanted $50 and the dealer wanted $75 to program it. I tried a number of key registration procedures I found in the forum and on line with no luck.

I bought the Techstream software and cable ($28) and was able to register my new key. It works, but what a hassle for a @#$% key.
