Kicker Subaru Tweeter Upgrade for 4runner?

Jumped on the scooby kicker bandwagon today, huge improvement in sound and maybe a 1 out of 10 on install difficulty. Maybe 10 minutes of work for way crisper highs compared to the garbage paper cone tweeters. A+ would recommend

Quick mod, worth it!

After reading about the Subaru tweeters I too made the change and it’s made a difference. Definitely worth the cost considering it’s completely plug and play and takes about 10 minutes.

And ordered all the other speaker from Crutchfield. Was a very easy swap sound great with factory head unit non JBL and no amp

This is the right way to do it. Just doing tweeters for twice the price and half the sound quality isn't wrong, it just doesn't make any sense.

Just put these in, worth the $78, the highs dont sound muffled and sound much more crisp. However, for the true audiophiles who have dolby atmos in their homes, alpine or HK in their cars, and only use bose quiet comforts, these may not be up to your standard.

Get yourself a set of 3.5" coax speakers for less than you paid for just the tweeters and you'll be very happy.

I ordered the subaru kickers, but ended up cancelling and getting the jbl infinity 3022 3.5 speakers. I'm no audiophile, but it sounds very good to my ears. They do require some additional work to get installed like soldering wires and provided crossover, modifying the mount, and trimming some hidden plastic on the passenger side which took 30 mins. I was worried the small tweeter would sound good but take away some midrange frequencies.

I couldnt agree more. I got these based off of others praises and the difference it almost barely noticeable.

hmm, strange, even my wife noticed and I didn't even tell her I had installed them yet. It definitely makes a noticeable difference in quality.

With respect towards everyone's views, my conclusion is that if you are an audiophile these Subaru tweeters probably aren't worth your money or your time. Kinda sounds like if you are like me, an average ear Joe, they may be a significant improvement . No doubt going to the 3.5" woofer/tweeter will render better sound. However, the trade-off is more work is required for the installation. I could handle the installation , but if I upgrade at all makes more sense to me to just drop in the "plug and play" Subaru tweeters.

I agree. I just installed these today and they sound great. I would say 80% of 4runner owners would appreciate these. The other 20% need something better, which is fine and understandable. The install was maybe 15 mins.

I got mine today. Installed in 10 minutes as well. Noticeably better than before. I think it was worth it.
