Kicker Subaru Tweeter Upgrade for 4runner?

looking into using the Hertz DCX 87.3 speaker as well. Installation tips?
did you need to trim the brackets or were you able to use existing?
are the adapters needed? link?
pipe strap?
bass blockers needed?

What all was needed to swap these in? Im guessing some trimming on the brackets needed to be done?

believe you do need to trim the brackets and reposition them. Looks like you remove the bracket trim and keep the bolt portions to line up.

order arrived this morning, install took about 5 minutes. Very simple install and speakers provide a noticeable upgrade over the OEM ones. May need to tweak the settings some but I'm happy with the install and quality.
Same. Just ordered the 3.5" Reference speakers, bass blockers, and wiring adapter from Amazon. Sounds like a good cheap upgrade at $85 all in.

I installed mine yesterday. My rig only has ~500 miles on it so not sure if that’s why, but I had a really hard time getting the passenger side hardware off. I had to use an impact to finally remove them.
Once I installed the tweeters the highs were definitely noticeable as an upgrade. Unfortunately to me, it made the rest of the factory speakers sound super muddy, unbalanced and substandard.
I wound up finding a deal on the Focal 6x9 front & 6x5 rear speakers. $300 for all 4 speakers which they normally go for ~300 pair. They are a super easy plug and play affordable option if you don’t install their tweeters. I installed them and a Kicker Key 200.4 amp. I was contemplating a head unit upgrade and adding a sub but for the way it sounds now, which is crisp, clean and loud, those are no longer a priority/necessary.

not bad deal on the focals, kinda wish I upgraded all my speakers. I came across a similar deal for focals but passed on them. The tweeters were a good upgrade but leaves you wanting more. I have a 17 sr5 and would like apple care play but dont want to upgrade stereo yet. May upgrade to a 2022 model 4runner

Are the kicker tweeters better than the OEM Audio+ ones? Just installed the reference 500 system and swapped out my kickers for the OEM Audio+ ones.

Audio Frog GS25 fits. It's very close but it fits.
I just installed Focal 6 x 9" 2-Way Coaxial IS 690 TOY kit this evening. I tried the kicker tweeters with focals and the tweeters came alive compared to stock. They sounded great! I'm going to try the focals for awhile to see how I like them. Theyre a tad small compared to the kicker, I may end up going back to the kickers
Did I miss how to upgrade for the JBL system?
My 2016 Limited has the JBL system and my dash speakers are shot. This discussion went all over so I remain confused as to what I need for the JBL.
I do not want to cut wires and since the stock factory dash speakers puked their guts I am not interested in buying the stock factory JBL ones. How did others with the JBL system fix the issue for the dash speakers?

Cut the wires and butt connect the new wires in place. Its been quite a few years, like 2014 i believe, but i took ours out of our 2012 Limited with JBL. If i recall correctly the fronts are a paper cone made to the plastic basket and the plug on the speaker runs the wires down to the voice coil.
I believe once you unplug the OEM speaker you have a flat 2 wire plug, i dont think anybody anywhere is going to make an aftermarket speaker that plugs into the factory toyota harness. If you want aftermarket speakers you are most likely going to end up with cutting the flat 2 wire plug and butt connecting, splicing, soldering, in a new wire and flat blade speaker terminals for aftermarket speakers.
