KidV's 1985 4Runner

Kevin, What do you still need to get the bastard running?

Build a custom harness to integrate the motor with the Megasquirt, and then play with the Megasquirt's programming until we get the timing and the air/fuel and all the other little things right. I don't think anybody has published a fuel map for the Megasquirt for a stock 3RZ, so we'll probably have to do it from scratch. It'll be a learning experience for sure.

So are you just taking the old bastard out for spin around town, just to shame it into running again once it sees all those other cars driving around, or are you towing it somewhere else to work on it? :)

Are you working on the brakes today?

Took it down to mikebontoft's garage, where it'll be easier to nag him into working on it with me .

No brakes today, I'm going to bed. Might do that and the LBJs this weekend though, if Mike doesn't have time to work on GB.

I'm in town today, and thought I'd offer to come out and help with the brakes, but it is supposed to be over 100° F today, so that wouldn't be much fun anyway.

This weekend I'll be in Morrison, Co. or I'd offer to help with the LBJ's and brakes.

I look forward to hearing of the bastard running, again.

I think it's over 105 in my shadeless driveway right now. I'm far too comfortable here in front of this AC unit to go find out for sure though.

We need to get our trucks done so we can get them dirty. Its making me sad to see this summer going by and I haven't been up AFC yet.

Not regular towing, but it's good to know I can borrow a trailer and rescue myself off the side of the freeway if I have to! 2001 F150 Lariat Supercrew, Triton 5.4/auto, etc. Just enough wear and tear that I won't mind if I scratch or dent it, but not enough that it doesn't feel nice to sit in. I like it. It's not the 7.5l bricknose I was looking for, but it'll do.

Now I can put off the wife's brake job. :D

On second thought, my comment wasn't appropriate.

Good luck with it, Kevin.

No, you're fine. At my budget, pretty much everything I looked at has a bad habit of something or other. The other big knock on the 5.4 is trouble with the manifold warping or cracking, but I'll live with it. I've got the power of a 2UZ for the price of a 5VZE, there's gonna be a tradeoff. :D

completely unrelated question: when you bought your high-steer last fall did you pay for shipping? TG has free shipping right now and i'm wondering if its a good time to jump or if i should wait for another $299 deal like you did

I drove 30 minutes and picked it up from Low Range, I didn't pay jack for shipping. :)

Probably a good time to pull the trigger, shipping on a big heavy box like that is probably near $100, and who knows when they'll do another big sale.

Dude, I could have saved you 29.5 minutes and picked it up after work for you!! The biggest thing I like about Low Range is it's a short 30 second detour after work and I'm there!!!!!

Im jelly.. When I need parts like that its a 5 business day wait at least for shipping. Nothing like ordering parts and having them show up a week and a half later.

Got a date with Mike on Sunday. Hauling the Bastard down to his place might have been a mistake, because now I can't work on anything else while it's down.

Hope to make some solid progress and get it running soon, because I'm frustrated not having it. I'm very tempted to take this silly F150 out to Snakes just to get a fix. :D
