I grew up down there and my dad always put his in front.. Never was an issue.

Only need one plate in NC so I'm assuming if it's on the other end it's okay.

Ah ok. I was thinking front plate, for those states that require it, but also for impact reasons as well.

if you dont mind me asking but why put that rack in the front?

Yea man. I don't keep it on there. It's aluminum, so I use it on camping trips and beach trips. It's imperative for driving on the beach and if you ever use one you will never go back to the ones that are on the back. It's EXTREMELY convenient. I've been using one for years, but this one is the best I've every had. You can put the fishing poles one each side. I have no idea about the legality, but I've never had a problem with all the years I've been doing it and there are people everywhere down here that use them.

The rack in front is very common among surfcasters of the northeast coast. I am loving this setup KHS and wish I could do it with my 2014 SR5. For now though the rods will go on the roof and the cooler and plug box in the back.

If I had a chance to do this on my 4runner, I would totally do it.

But once again the same rack on the back of the truck is no bueno for surfcasters who drive the beach.

Have an old Ray's rack that has been through many different trucks and 4 runners all aluminum refuse to part with it....only mistake I have made is trading my 2008 V-8 for a 2014 Trail, pulling a 23' cold molded CC to Oriental for old drum and tarpon fishing is a joke in the 14. Let me know if you want the plans for the tackle box as I am completely self contained....

That tackle box is awesome! That whole set up is pretty sweet. I'm staying in Buxton till Friday, I've done some fishing at ramp 44 and on Ocracoke. Only caught one small blue. Got in a bit of a jam at 44, the sand there is really soft. 4-low and Atrac got me out though. Maybe I'll see you or the o.p. around this week, we're in a blue '15 trail with a camo kayak on top, if you see us say hi.

I'm over on the Neuse and Pamlico killing old drum, rays and sharks have not been bad yet in three nights of fishing we have caught and tagged over thirty fish, from the mid 40's to the high forty's no fifty in. fish yet . Leaving the oriental ramp around 11 to fish the tide. Good luck...
