As per requested, here's a detailed step by step with pics of the KN install, not that it's too difficult, but there was a small mishap or two, but Ill get into that later.
Remove the motor cover (pops right off)
Unplug MAF, crank case breather and fuel pressure vent hose
Remove bolt that mounts stock intake bracket to the top o' the motor
Loosen Intake tube clamp on throttle body, remove air box lid, and pull it all off. (Make sure you've popped off the retaining clips that held the MAF onto stock assembly)
Remove the 3 screws that mount the Stock airbox (2 inside, one outside on back of it)
Install 3 Rubber Bumpers where the airbox bolts were
Install Rubber bumper on side mount where on mine the horn mounts to
*note, I put the horn on the inside of the bumper and fender, found out later, that was not to be the case, has to go between rubber bumper and new airbox.
Install filter mount and bracket
Install other bracket and mount into engine bay
Correct Horn Placement
Intake Coupling on Airbox side
Intake Coupling TBody Side
Remove MAF from stock massive intake assembly and install it on the new Intake
and nowwww the fun part:
KN provides 2 plastic vent mounts. Ones a 5/8"barb to 1/4" thread (crankcase breather), the other a 3/16" barb to 1/4" (fuel pressure vent hose).
Since I got the metal not plastic intake, and the metal is chromed, there's a little bit of fighting starting the plastic breathers. Apparently I'm Hulk with my hands, and somehow overtightened and it sheared cleannnnn off.
FML...its 8pm and a tuesday night. I live local to Summit Racing, but the guy there was pretty much useless and couldnt match it up. I run to home Depot, and find the correct replacement for the 3/16" Barb, but not the one I snapped, the 5/8"
