Excellent thread that really helped me get this done! One thing I will second is that you should replace your fuel injector orings and you need to use Vaseline on the orings. I tried felpro orings with no Vaseline and almost all of them leaked badly. Gas was spraying everywhere. When I took it all back apart several of them were ripped. I then bought my orings from the dealer and had to redo the job and I used Vaseline on the orings. They popped in perfectly and zero leaks. Doing the job twice really sucked so just wanted to save people the headache that I learned the hard way. I also found some cool you tube videos on how to clean your fuel injectors while they are out with a 9 volt battery and brake cleaner. It worked great and my truck runs like a champ now!

Just finished my knock sensors. Turned out it was the harness that was bad. My original knock sensors were Matsushitas, which tested as good. Replaced them with a set of Densos for $50.00 off ebay and an OEM harness for about $22.00. I think now you can get the Densos for as little as $25.00 per set off ebay!:reddance:

Very nice...like stated in the convo earlier though, the 25$ may work but they are fake I'm pretty certain. I bought a set for 25$ recently that are supposedly "Refurbished Denso" just because I was curious but they were lighter than my old OEM ones and were hollow through the center of the threads which OEM does not have. I've decided I'm not going to put them in. I actually, as part of an experiment, used a vibration table at my work and used a scope on each sensor to see how it looked. I'll post pictures soon that I took of the meter of what they looked like on the same scale. They technically worked but I feel like I had to fiddle around trying to get a good ground and remove noise much more on the ebay ones then the OEM, and then the signal still looked weaker on the ebay ones. I'm glad it worked out though and not trying to rain on your parade...just info for others reading.

Awesome! But yeah going back in again sucks, I know...probably a good call just having some orings ready right off the bat when you go in. Cool vid, thanks for sharing and I'm glad the instruction helped.

tagging this cause thtis might be coming up, don't see the part # for the harness.....oem intake gaskets #'s would be nice too

and man these knock sensors are not cheap, oddly enough camelback sells them for the same price as arayana

not the air plenums, but the main intake manifold, that bolts to the block ( under the fuel rails) that sits on top of the knock sensors

what is the correct torque ?

I found 22 pounds and also found 15 pounds

but of course busting them loose took a lot more that

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Per the illustration on Pg. 977 of the FSM it actually looks like 13 lbs...ha sorry to confuse things more. Check that page out. Thanks for the feedback for part #s too, will throw those in when I get a chance.

Is it important to get a Toyota manufactured knock sensor harness or is there recommended alternative brands?

I'm not sure about the harness. If we're talking strictly the harness and not the sensors I'd say OEM is not as crucial since it's just wires and connectors. Like everyone says though the OEM quality is usually much better so I would try to get an OEM replacement if you can. I don't personally know of any recommended replacements. Overall, it's not all that important to go OEM with the harness if needed in my opinion
