Hello, I have a 2000 4Runner sport, and recently got some 16x8 Konig countersteer wheels mounted on 265/75/16 goodyear duratracs. I read on a few threads saying that this is the biggest size tire you can get without rubbing. I'm experiencing some rubbing driving up the driveway, and sometimes at full lock. I went ahead and removed the running boards, and it helped alot, but still rubs a little. Will the 99 tall springs eliminate the rubbing? Don't really want to trim the fender lining or hammer the pinch welds. I'm new to the 4runner thing. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

I could be wrong, but iirc, the Countersteers have a different backspacing than the stock wheels...
If they're not, my 99 with tall coils does not rub at all, ever, with 265/75/16's.

I had the same issue with my 265/75's & 2000 coils. Like it did with you, removing the running boards helped a lot. I trimmed some of the plastic liner in the wheel well near the passenger door, and that helped some more. I still had rubbing when turning into parking lots and such.
You could try hammering the pinch weld, or look into 99 coils (or any lift really). I just got a set of PP springs and my rubbing is now gone.

I have the factory 5-star wheels. I'm not sure about your backspacing, but I'd say if they work on your springs they'll work on the 99 springs. Can you look and see where you are rubbing? I was able to see where I was rubbing due to the area being rubbed clean of dirt. If you're just rubbing the front or back of the wheel wells then the 99's should do the trick.

So, the 99 tall coils should elimainate the rubbing with the konig countersteers with 4.5 backspacing and 265/75/16's? What shocks do you recommend? I'll prolly get the coils 1st, then the shocks later, when I can afford them. This is my daily driver, so don't really offroad. Thanks.

I'm pretty confident it'll fix your issues.. just try to see where you rubbing issue is coming from.
If your current shocks are in good shape you can use them. Tokico TrekMaster RT's are a pretty common choice, Bilstein makes a few that fit, and Monroe has a few (I've heard Sensatracs mentioned).
Personally, I'm liking my TrekMaster RT's so far. I have no experience with the other brands though.
Another spring choice that'll give you minimal lift would be OME 881 front, and OME 906 rear.

A lift alone will not ALWAYS fix tire rubbing. It depends where the tire is rubbing. If you're rubbing at full lock then it's not the height of the truck that's the problem, it's the offset of the wheels.

Yeah.. like I mentioned, and LINY pointed out.. you need to figure out where the rubbing is coming from before spending any money.
