Large diameter shocks... 2.5" - 3"?

Does anyone know if there is actually clearance to fit larger than a 2.5" diameter shock in the rear suspension?

I was thinking of approaching someone like Fox or King and provide them with specs and just have them build one but I dont know if I am going to run into fit to clearance issues... perhaps that is the reason we dont see them now?

I don't think you would benefit with a 3" shock unless you are 2000lbs over stock and need the addition dampening over a custom valved 2.5" or because a 2.5" with remote reservoir doesn't stay cool enough for you bombing down the desert for hours. Most of the dampening you need comes from the front anyways.

Oil volume/cooling and surface area/dampening ability is roughly a 65% jump from 2" to 2.5" and the same 65% from 2.5" to 3" if you do the math.

It would look cool I agree but I think a properly tuned 2.5" bypass would give a better experience.

Sorry, been on vacation for a week.

You can fit a standard replacement stem top 2.5 King/Fox/Icon in the rear no issue. Unless you want to get a little crazy and do what i did for bypasses.

The Radflo's on mine are 2.5" front and rear, I measured them recently when I installed a non-OverLand Warehouse Radlfo suspension lift on my friend's FJ. We noticed his rears we 2.0 and so I double checked mine.
