Last step in painting emblems...

I used a hairdryer to heat up the emblem, and then just used pliers to pull on one side of the emblem. As I recall I pulled where the horizontal part of the emblem meets the side. Once I got that side a fair bit off, I just put my fingers under the edge and pulled. I did have to heat up the glue once or twice to make it easier. It was a little intimidating to do, but it worked out great, and I like the results. I tried to be real gentle when pulling the emblem off as I really didn't want to break the thing. If I did it over, I would have used a thin piece of cloth to protect the emblem when using the pliers. Even still I was able to sand down the area that got scratched, and after painting, you cant tell.

As far as painting, I just lightly sanded the emblem and used the Krylon Plastic Paint. I wasn't going for a real glossy look, so I didn't clear coat it.

How has it held up in the weather? Is it okay without the clear coat?

They were XD's yes, but they were still 17". They were just a good half-inch bigger than the stock 17's so they made it rub so bad that it pushed the front bumper out a good 2-3 inches when turning the wheels, and gave off a HORRID noise that could be heard down the street. The stock rims look way better than those did, so until I find a nicer pair of black rims, I am staying stock. I have plenty of things to still do anyways.

Want a set of Black Pro Comp 7028's at a great price? -$750 I bought these only a few weeks ago but took them off because I didn't like the way they looked after awhile- unmounted the tires and put the stocks back on- now it looks really silly until I sell these!! They are 18 x 9 and fit fine with 285/65 Nitto Grapplers. I've got about 4" of lift in front. No cutting was necessary except for the inside of the inner splash guard- NO RUBBING!

I have 265/70/17 tires, not 285's, have a 2" lift, not a 4" lift, and have 17" rims, not 18". Sorry, I don't see these as prime candidates for my truck.

Just thought you might still be looking and I guess yes without a slightly higher lift you would probably have rubbing issues. Never mind
