Note that the green black wire is a GROUND trigger. You will have to use a relay to power the inclinometer or use the trigger as its ground and power it elsewhere, if its design permits.

You can also get a ground trigger from the PINK wire between the 2-4 select switch and the 4wd ECU. That's at Pin 4 of the F7 plug on the 4wd ECU. F7 is a two row 26-pin white plug.

Ok so going off of this, if I splice the green black wire and tie in the ground from the inclinometer I would just need to find a constant power supply to tie into for the power wire? Like one of the 12v sockets?
 
Ok so i got it all done and it really didnt take long. It was kind of a pain, as you can't tell if the bulbs are in correctly, so you have to hook it all up and then test it, then pull it out and switch them around.

I have a 98 and have two hotspots behind the climate control. the lights still show up green because of the panel i guess. did anyone do anything to get rid of the green?

Yes, unless there is something funky about the inclinometer. That's just covering my ass because I haven't seen it. In general, yes, that will work.
 
Did the swap last night and I gotta say I'm not to impressed. The lights are an improvement but they still appear dim. The shifter light actually looks dimmer then my old bulb. I have the same hot spots everyone else is getting as well. I'm going to poke around on the website and see if I ordered the wrong bulbs or if they carry brighter bulbs.

I'm not super happy with the gear shifter illumination either. Curious, which color did you use? I went with blue and purchased the 3 smd 360 degree viewing angle and wonder how much of that light energy is wasted...

Also, MStudt, thanks so much for this write-up. It helped tremendously. I am curious if anyone has successfully replaced the power outlet ring LED and if so...how? I've tried building my own with 3mm LED and a resistor after the squared #74 bulb didn't work but failed..so many times.
 
Sorry for multiple posts, especially because I'm new, but in case anyone is wondering, here is how the blue came out. Hard to see the gear shifter light(or lack there of) with the other led out of the power outlet but...

That blue looks sweet! I ordered same bulb but in white. I might purchase a 30 degree bulb to see if that helps. Also I am having another issue. My cruise control light is constantly on. It's dim when my cruise control isn't on and goes to full brightness when turned on. Is this something I did wrong? My battery light is doing the same thing but I have no way of testing to see if it's really on or not. My scan gauge says 14v so I assume my battery is fine.

How did you get the transmission lights blue? Mine have the green overlay and I couldn't get them white.
 
Here's my problem. Sorry for crappy pictures they are from my phone. You can see the lights just not what they say here's cruise control off

Also in these pics you can see the battery light on. Not sure why this is happening but if I can fix I may just take these lights out. Other then that here is the overall look

I'll have to check it out later, mine might be dimmer as well and the quality of the photo might make them appear to be the same. There are definitely some inconsistencies in the lighting in all of the gauges and buttons.

Any chips in the tubes that lead to the buttons will also cause the buttons to become dimmer as I'm sure you can imagine. I'm trying to think of a better way to transfer light to all of the controls but it's hard to do so with the way that the system was designed.

I think the 02 has slightly different gauges than yours (not super knowledgable here). I didn't do anything special, just popped in the three #24 bulbs. I'll look at my dash tomorrow to see about the greenish overlays.

I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but could it have anything to do with the increase of white back light? Does it still happen with that bulb over on that side of the dash in? I'd pull it out and see if it still happens. Hopefully I didn't sound like an idiot!
 
Ha no you don't sound like an idiot. I thought the same thing at first but when I pulled the cruise control bulb the light went completely away. Even with the white bulbs in.
 
One thing... I don't see the yellow highlights you are mentioning in the post about the ECT and rear window LEDs.

Installed a white face overlay. From low range Offroad.











For some.odd reason the RPM section is dark. Idk why
 
I thought about doing that overlay until I saw pics of it. I think you have to be pretty accurate on the lay down to let the light through. not entirely sure.
