Led headlight/fog light brands and their quality?

I've done extensive research and read the consolidated info thread. However, I really couldn't get a concise feeling for the better brands to buy. So far I'm basically between the morimoto 2strokes for the high and low and the morimoto xb fog light assembly; the xenon depot extreme led headlight kits for the low, high, and fog, or the putco night-Lux led for the low, high , and fog.

Now I really haven't found much info on the putco stuff but they seems to be well made. They do not have a fan and instead have large braided heat sinks like the xenon depot extremes. The 2strokes have a fan that is of mag lev design that allegedly will eliminate ware.

So my questions are these:

1. Could y'all please give me your opinions on these led lights? (please don't recommmend HID)

2. How are the lights that simply replace the fog light on waterproofness? I'm assuming that since there is not dust cover the heat sinks or possible fan will just be out and exposed? Any comments on this would be great.

3. I like to try to stay brand consistent with things like this and so far putco is the only brand I've found that makes every single exterior light including the headlights and fogs. How do y'all feel about their plasma led lights for everything else?

4. For interior lights I'll probably try to purchase all morimoto or whatever brand y'all rexommmend for quality all the way around.

5. Finally, the cost really isn't a factor in my decision, I don't mind paying for high quality. However if there are discounts offered to us via certain vendors or otherwise I would also like to know about that.

1) Why don't you like HIDs? The general consensus is that they perform much better than LED at this point. The two most popular kits for highs lows and dogs are the Morimotos and Xenon depots. Which kit you buy from them isn't a matter of personal preference and based on your needs as well.

2) The fogs are a sealed unit protecting the important bits inside. Very little water will actually reach the heat sinks in the back of it worries you.

3) All three brands you list make lights for highs lows and fogs.

4) Some people have had luck with cheaper lighting kits from eBay. Others will pay a little more from quality vendors like xenon depot and TRS. It's really up to you what to buy. Just know that the Putco 360 bulbs have a hard time fitting.

5) Xenon depot and TRS have coupon codes that have been posted here. Someone else can chime in since I don't remember them.

Good luck figuring out what to get. You're going to get mixed opinions on everything and it can seem overwhelming. I'm sure you'll be happy no matter which way you go.

First off, I have used MORIMOTO Products from theretrofitsource for years and have had great service form the products and when questions arose, they have top notch customer service.

1.) OK, I won't recommend HID's in your lows, but IMHO, you will not get the desired light out of LED's in the side firing low beam headlights..
OOOPS, sorry, I almost recommended HID's in the low beam spots.....
High Beam LEDS: DDM Tuning Sabre 3000lm each (Awesome)

2.) No other comment on this one since I have the morimoto xb fog light assembly.

Stay away from LED's in the low beams. The LED bulbs you can buy that fit standard halogen based bulbs are not an improvement. There are a ton of reasons why but if good output is your main concern, then no LED bulb is going to provide this. Anyone who says otherwise does not understand lighting. The LED bulbs will appear bright to look at directly and will appear bright directly in front of your vehicle. However, you will not have any distance vision where you need it most.
LED's look cool and if looks are what you are after, then it is up to you. But if you truly care about being able to see as well as the safety of you, your passengers and others on the road, avoid the LED bulbs.

I picked up a pair of PIAA H11 led bulbs for my 16 trd or Tacoma but it was totaled before I could put them in. But I did put them in the wife's Prius for now until we replace the Tacoma with a trail, hopefully this weekend, and as for output I couldn't be happier. She did have hids in there before and the instant on is amazing. They were not cheap, 250 on eBay was the lowest I found 300 through PIAA but the cutoff is crisp and the light output is great. Unless you are driving in a pitch black enviornment the throw down the road is ok. Hids were a little better, but on dark dark roads with either on we would have put her high beams on. They are kind of new to the US market, a buddy of mine has them in his third gen and he swears by them so I figured I'd try a pair out. Now as for in the fogs I would still go with a traditional hid, but in her low beam projectors I'll be acquiring them for the 4Runner when we get it.

You will not be satisfied, unless you light like less actual light output, with the LED's in the low beam side firing projectors in the T4R.
