How do you remove the side mirror lights?

You're talking about the puddle lights? How to replace them?
Or just remove them from your order? :)

Push the actual glass mirrors all of the way up and towards the vehicle.
If you look in the gap between the mirror and mirror housing, you'll see the white center cap for the backing. Around this cap there are 4 clips, located at 2,4,8, and 10 oclock positions.
At the 4 (passenger) or 10 (driver) oclock positions - Use a large regular blade screwdriver, pry the mirror away from the mirror assembly.
Be firm but don't try to rip the mirror out. Use consistent pressure to 'pop' the mirror out.
Do this when the mirror isn't cold - as the clips might break. The plastic is pretty unforgiving.

When the first clip gives, pull the mirror off by hand. Put a microfiber cloth on top of the mirror and rest the mirror on top of the housing. This keeps you from having to pull the heater wires.

When the mirrors out of the way, remove the 2 screws for the puddle lights. #2 phillips will do it. When the screws are removed, push the center of the bulb/wiring harness to pop the light out of the housing. There is a clip on the inside that you will need to keep. It acts as a flange.

I have pictures at home if needed. I'm going by memory, but it's really easy :)

Twist to remove the bulb.

Reverse the above for assembly. When you pop the mirror back in, try adjusting the mirror so you can put pressure on the entire mirror (flatten the mirror) so you don't break it.

In the below picture you can see where the mirror clips connect, pry at the one referenced by the arrow.

In the 2nd picture, you can see the clip and the 2 screws you need to remove.

Have you guys figured out the turn signal bulb in the side mirror? Can i order mine with those lights?

Yup add me!

Will do sir!

interested...please add me

thanks

Adding you also!

LOL LJ, love the kid grinning in the pic. :D

What can I say, I was babysitting so he had to help me test the products! lol that pic was from a 4th gen, owned by the little kids dad:thumb3:

I do not do turn signals, too much of a liability! But I can pretty much do everything else!

Could you guys do a custom package with matching turn lights with the same puddle color?

The thing is I cannot supply turn signals but I can match the puddle lights the best I can:)

I am interested 2011 Limited. Reverse and license plate lights.

Added! Will update official list tomorrow!

So it looks like the variation in the 5th gen will be the ones with rear hatch lights, puddle lights, or middle row dome light that has RES, and traditional dome light in rear

I will work out pricing for all of these in order to make ordering as convenient as possible:thanks:

Replying to pm's! If you do not get a response it means the forum messed up or server timed out:(

me too!

I'm interested in these as well. I have a 2011 Trail edition. I know you guys mentioned it doesn't have the puddle lights, so maybe if the license plate lights are in the price range add em instead?

This was also my post virginity.

Proposed solution

Here are the variations in the 5th gen 4runners that have been documented

1. Trail Editions have NO puddle lights
2. Some trims of the 5th gen have a single traditional dome light in the trunk area or a dual hatch light in the trunk area
3. Some trims of the 5th gen have a RES, resulting in the need for two smaller LED panels(similar to the hatch lights)

So for the overall kit I can provide it with all the components including the puddle lights.

Question:So what if I do not have puddle lights? Easy answer, you can use them as license plate lights

Next, for those that have the rear entertainment system or dual hatch lights or single traditional dome lights or any combination resulting in these choices. Price will remain the same for any combination here after:driving:

Question: How will I know if I get the proper kit? Easy answer once again, just state in the note section of the paypal payment that you have RES, dual hatch light, traditional middle row dome light but! Make sure to state what you have in both locations!

Now onto the "makeup lights" and license plate lights? Each of these will be $4.50 to add. So $9 in total to add all 4 lights for the make up and license plate lights. Also refer to the puddle light comment above

The lights for running boards are $9 to add(assuming you have or want them)

I will stick to the price that I have previously listed without the modular items added

Some components have arrived in the mail but....Now, I need to order MORE components to entertain every possible trim out there! Due to the variation in lighting in the interior cabin. That being said, when adding your "interest" in the kit, pls make note of what you have in the middle and cargo area

This will be the most complicated kit to put together on my end but I am up to this challenge! Sorry for the wait. But the 5th gen will have a UFO option soon:driving:
