LED Light Bar Wiring

Hello everyone!

It's been a few years since I wired up some lights. I want to make sure I have my parts list correct here, and need a little input.

My goal is to have them wired up so I can turn them on anytime I want, whether the key is on or not.

I have a 24" lightbar I will be wiring.

1. Relay (not sure what kind to get here)
2. Inline fuse (40 amp should be about right correct?)
3. Illuminated switch of my choice
4. Wire (I'll be getting red and black for my own coordination. What gauge should I be using?)
5. Connectors, shrink wrap and solder. I have everything I need here.

So, can you guys help me update my list here, and suggest a place to tap into with a constant source of power so I can turn the lights on at any time?

Damnit! I need to hurry up and sell my lightforce and get a bar myself. I was looking at southeast overland's wiring harness. Comes with everything you need. I'm sure there are other harnesses out there too that would work. Where did you get your bar from?

I got mine from eBay. It's nothing fancy, just a double row China LED bar. But for the price, it's hard to not give it a try. Hopefully I have some time in the coming weeks to wire it up.

The amperage of the fuse and the wire gage are both dependent on the specs of the light bar. 40 A seems a bit high to me, so what is the wattage on your bar?

Going to be interested to see what you do as I'm in same boat except i purchased a Daystar 20amp rocker switch that acts as a relay and eliminates that need from what i understand would love to see some pics when your done if you don't mind tagging me!
