LED light concern for my 2010 4R

Before I purchase my new boat trailer, I have to ask, "Will LED lights on the new trailer work OK while being pulled with my 2010 4R, even tho' my 2010 4R doesn't come with LED lights on it ? " (the trailer has a 4-way flat plug)

I would think the trailer company would have already taken proper steps to make it work with standard bulbs on a vehicle.

Or did you make your own trailer?

I did not make my own trailer. I am ready to spec-out my new trailer, and I have the option to upgrade to LED lights. I have read on this forum that someone tried putting LED lights in their 2010 4R and it caused some sort of problem.

Definitely upgrade to LED as you will not have any issues with an LED-lit trailer as long as you're plugged in to the 4R correctly. LED trailer lights are safer because they are much more visible.

4R's have a four-pin flat and a 7 round. Depending on the size of the boat, your boat trailer will likely come with four pin, possibly five-pin flat if it has trailer brakes; but either way you should buy a 4-flat-to-7-round adapter and use the 7 round. 5-7 adapters are available too.

Absolutely order the LEDs. Many trailerboaters are upgrading their lighting to LED, as they have many benefits, including sealed waterproof units.

BTW, you can also get LEDs that mount under water, on the trailer frame rails. These provide underwater light as a great assistance to loading in the dark.

If you know the trailer comes with a flat-four, you should be good to go. This would indicate you will not have trailer brakes - correct?

I just find the seven round a better fit, easier to connect, disconnect, less likely to collect road debris, more secure etc, but it's probably just me being anal. Never personally liked the flats. (I also have a new truck every couple of months, some of which only have round 7).
And all my trailers have LEDs.

I'd agree with this, IF you can get the trailer built this way, but not if you have to deal with a 4-7 adapter. That's just additional connections to come loose and more hassle.
