How bright are those T10's as backup lights?

I doubt the LEDs will be bright enough for reverse.
What you want is an 885 or 886 bulb with 50 watts of holy-crap-brightness.
After reading several pages on the Tacoma forum, it seems like they recommend the 35W bulb. Looked like one of the members melted part of the housing with the 50w after prolonged use.I doubt the LEDs will be bright enough for reverse.

Ok, I tested a couple of different bulbs in the dome light today. Unfortunately, I broke the one that came with the kit trying to make it fit better and ordered the wrong replacement. But the results are still useful. These were all taken with the camera set to manual for everything (iso, white balance, shutter speed and aperture. And all were taken within a few minutes of each other so exterior conditions remained the same.

My conclusions. The 5050 bulbs seem to have about the same brightness, just different color temperature from the original halogen. The 5630 bulbs are definitely a lot brighter and the "warm white" 4500k bulbs are a close match for the original halogens.
The 28mm bulb fit much easier but I didn't have too much trouble with the 31mm bulb this time. It was daytime and I did take the whole assembly out. I have the 5050 bulb in there now since it is close to the same color temp as the other bulbs but I'm debating on if I should order a new 5630 in "pure white" 6000K to get the brighter dome light.
Thanks for this comparison. How did you remove the whole dome assembly? Is it complicated?
I installed mine last night and the dome light was the biggest pain in the ass. The LED bulb is slightly bigger than the standard light. Had to remove the whe assembly after messing up one bulb.
The flat panels work so much better, so much brighter too...
Link? Which one did you buy?
The ones I tried had a very greenish color tone to them. That one looks much better!
I bought these ones. I didn't change out my map lights as that would have been too bright. Good mix now.
