LED tail/brake lights?

I have a question about LED tail lights. I know some of the late model 4th generation 4Runners have stock LED tail/brake/3rd brake lights. I really like the way they look - the rows of LEDS on each light.

Do the 5th generation 4Runners have LEDs too?

Strange. After going LED why would they go back to incandescent ... and then back to LED again?

Can anyone recommend LED replacement bulbs for a 2013 4Runner? Best place to get them? How many i'll need? Will i need those load thingys?

This may sound strange but i don't even have my 4Runner yet. It's on order from my local dealer. Will be arriving in August. In the meantime i'm thinking what kind of (easy) upgrades i can do to it.

Try these folks. iJDMTOY.com Just be aware that the turn signals come with an external resistor.
The rear brake and backup lights were just plug and play, but I had to fashion a groove in the turn signal socket to allow the wires to the resistor to exit the lamp housing.

Thanks JayBee! I don't know what's wrong with me, I'm LED crazy. Besides just changing bulbs, does anyone make a LED replacement tail light assembly? If so, i can't find them online. I've seen them for Tacoma's, why not for 4Runners?

Hmmmm ... since the 2014's are supposed to have LED tail lights, I wonder if the 2014 LED tail light assembly will fit the 2010/2011/2012/2013? Does anyone know?

It looks like it will. The 4th gen is plug and play so I assume it will be for the 5th gens too. It doesn't look like the body panels or light assembly as a whole was changed, just the insides of it.

JayBee, do you have any pictures of these installed?

Marketing... to "add new features" to show progress through model years to entice others and us to want the new model
