LED Turn signal bulbs

I recently had to replace my front bumper blinker bulbs on my 95' so i figured I would give the LED ones a go should be brighter right, and less draw in the electrical. I'm sure some have seen the voltage gauge dance when your at a light with your blinker on or even more so with the hazards. I just turned on the hazards when I installed them to check to see if they worked. They did just a little faster as I thought they might no big deal. But when I left for class tonight I hit my turn signal to hear ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ solid no on/off just stuck. Did I get the wrong bulbs? Do I need to change the relay. I know these were not designed for a 19 year old vehicle. looking for some advice. Electrical is not my specialty.

It could be your stalk on the steering wheel column. My left turn signal makes that noise sometimes if I move it to one certain place. Might try some electrical contact cleaner on it or replace it.
 
I think the blinker relay timing involves the electrical resistance from the bulb. You might have to wire in a resister in-line with the new LED bulbs?
 
That is what my search has pointed me to. Does anyone know it they make LEDs with resistors already installed? How much resistance?
 
I hear you can also swap out the relay with an electronic variety that doesn't depend on resistance.

Not sure if they make direct swaps for the Toyota relays or not.

Would be simpler and reversible.

Exactly. This is the sensible way to go. The reasons we replace the filament bulbs with LED's are:
1) To minimize power consumption.
2) Save on cost because LED's last much longer than incandescents

Adding a resistor in parallel with it will bring power consumption back up; not satisfying reason #1
Buying the parallel resistor will not satisfy reason #2.

Please share what you find out about the electronic flasher. I bet there's a plug and play one somewhere.
 
Well I found "WeissLicht" error free LED lights. But they are $74 for a pair of brake lights. I will be making a stop at ORVAC this week and see what I can come up with. I will not be wiring a resistor to each light. I'm fairly sure this can be fixed with the proper relay. The guys there are pretty bright.
 
It appears there is a LED specific Flasher Relay, in various pin configurations. I think I found one that matched mine. CF13 JL-02 Fingers crossed it works

This is actually an upgrade I plan for my truck.

I'm getting tired of replacing bulbs.
 
Well unfortunately they did not carry what I needed. But I did get confirmation that I had the correct part. I will order one online i guess. I also located the flasher relay its in the Driver side kick panel just FYI
 
I wonder if we (I mean someone else, not me) could put together a guide with the bulbs and whatever else is needed to change out all our lights to led. I seem to remember seeing where someone changed out the cabin lights and someone putting in brighter led backup lights. I'm especially interested in a brighter led backup light.

I don't think you will have any issues swapping out the reveres lights for LED and interior lights. I have all these lights on there way as I planned on switching all incandescent bulbs fro LED.

I will put together a nice list with link's to everything once I have it all sorted out and all problems solved.

Check out superbrightleds.com. They have a lookup that tells you each of your bulb types and what LED to order to replace them.
 
I have been on supertbrightleds, I'm just trying to figure out which one for my year they have several different options. I just need to pull mine and look at it. We have had some much needed and welcomed rain since Sunday and I don't have a garage to work on my runner. Rain is good!

Yes, Superbright LED's is good.
Re backup Lights:
I'd like to find out what LED light would use same power or about same as stock bulb. This would give us more light without having to install auxiliary light. Plug & play would be ideal, but replacing the connector on that housing would not be too difficult either.

Well for shitts and giggles. I changed back my front blinker bulbs to incandescent. I have blinkers again, but with a bit of hyper flash. But I can love with that. Look how much brighter the right one is. That is the old bulb. I got what I paid for from amazon. AWE :censored: !!!

I'd check to see how many lumens a regular bulb puts out and make sure any LEDs you purchase are at least that bright.
