Leg pain - stock seats

The seats are terrible, sit in a Volvo and you’ll see what nice seats are.
But I gave up caring a while back about how bad they are, after I heard about my cousins repair bills on their 2011 Yukon. Same year as mine, same miles.
I love that car but they are over $10,000 in repairs including a new trans, and I am at about $160 in repairs. If you can call it a repair, lubing the prop shafts. Oh and I just had one marker light go out on the front left. . 132,000 miles
If you have power seats jack the front up and lower the back and lay the seatback rest rearward like you are OG, that helps

I occasionally have the same problem on long trips. I keep the rear portion of the seat as low as possible, and raise the front of the seat almost all the way, then slide it forward until my foot is aligned over the pedal without having to stretch to it. This gives me full support for my thighs. I'm 5' 11" with a 30" inseam. Don't know if you may find this helpful or not but the suggestion can't hurt.

X2 on all this. I also Deflate the lumbar support. I find that cruise control helps because i can adjust my feet without having to maintain constant contact with the accelerator.

It's actually what made me need to go to a chiropractor.

Seat bottoms are too short these days.
They do not meet the back of the knee.

I drive far back, and have an X-Runner which forced me to sit closer to use the clutch, and boy, that was horrible on my spine.

I just finished installing these a couple of weeks back. It seems to put the chair at a substantially better angle.

I get the right leg pain issue on trips 7+ hours long, raising the seat up as high as it will go seemed to help. :car:

Reviving an old thread since I am just now starting to experience this where it doesn't go away for a few days after the drive and this was the first thought that popped in my head. I am surprised nobody has tried this; I guess will try the seat jackers for now.

Yes, I get leg pain. Mainly in my knee on the inside of the leg because of the same exact reasons you said about the seat, the positioning, etc.

Seat Jackers are the answer (from Desert Does It).

I’m a tall guy and experienced leg pain on extended test drives, so it put me off buying a 4Runner. When I finally decided to “suck it up” and buy one anyway, it had to be one without a moonroof, so I could keep the seat raised.

I ended up with a 2022 with a moonroof!

The Seat Jackers make all the difference. I have driven all day in comfort. Believe the reviews; I did and it’s true.

Tried seat jackers, they didn’t do anything to help my leg pain. I think one person said it correct for me here which is the right leg rolls outward therefore more cushion on the right side would help. I am going to look into the gx seats as a replacement as I almost can’t drive this truck more than 20 mins without pain. It’s the #1 thing I can’t stand about the car. I’ll try a seat cushion also. I saw another thread about a guy that put gx seats in his runner and said it wasn’t worth it

Just found this thread and it's a bit alarming. Been looking at the 2024 4R Limited. One of the main reasons I'm looking at the 4Runner is that the 4R does not have a huge center console that my right knee can bump into, hence I can "manspread."

FWIW I'm not that big of a guy, 5'11" with 32" inseam.

During my test 4R test drive, my right leg didn't have any pain, though it was only 10-15min long. It would seriously suck if I bought a 4R where I could move my right knee/leg without hitting a wide center console, and only end up with right leg pain during my commutes and road trips. Ugh.

What is it about the 4R seats that make it not comfy on long trips? Is it the lack of adjustments? No thigh up and down adjustments? Or bottom cushion too hard?

Well, based on the post before yours, it appears that different people have different issues. For me after 20 to 30 minutes in the seat, I would have pain in my upper legs near the butt. The seat jack is completely alleviated my issues, and I couldn’t be happier. I’m 6’3 280.

The seats in the GX460 are not plush but are comfortable nonetheless, at least when they are actually in a GX. Would they remain comfortable when installed in a 4Runner? That's a great question.
