Here's the thing though: Dealers will only gouge you if you LET them. Quite a few years back I discovered a little gem called Carsdirect.com (Disclosure: I'm not affiliated with that site in any way shape or form.) Anyway, a buddy kept getting "market adjustments" thrown in his face when shopping for a new Mustang GT. Went on the site, and got his car delivered for $1K under MSRP when the dealer was looking for 2 grand above. I was there when he took delivery of it and they were livid. "Shoulda let my guys make a living..." "...Why didn't you let me earn your business", etc, etc. He did try and they wanted to play hard ball so they lost the sale.
I did the same thing with a Durango, Xterra, and my current 4Runner Trail. Walked right in there with the printout from the site and just told the salesman not to waste my time or his...no need to put on the childish show of going back & forth to "discuss the numbers" what a bunch of hacks. If you can get me this truck at this price - sold. If not just say so, no hard feelings. I got the truck.

it's called charging the price that the market will bear, and the raison d'etre for the TRD Pro; maximizing margins by appealing to a buyer profile who's willing to pay more for the perception of exclusivity.
and it works—there's plenty of Pro buyers who're willing to pay. i'm not knocking Toyota or the buyer; totally fair play on both counts. but it is what it is.

Check and see what they have in Reno - Dolan Toyota Scion. They generally have a large inventory and will deal.

Also, no sales tax in Oregon. Do they nab you for that when you try to register it in CA? I think I saved about $2200 in sales tax if I recall correctly.
Yes. Had to pay sales tax and get it smogged. California sucks in that regard.
