lets see your interior mods

Is there a link that is operational to this one? The link provided is dead. Just curious if there is also a harness available to purchase so as I can do this mod.

Edit: This was being quoted to the (2015+ Accesory meter display harness that replaces the individual clock on the newer 4runners)

Mods crushed them all. You can try to contact "old red", if he even bothers to check in here anymore.

Finally getting my 4Runner this week and I'm glad i saved/subscribed to this thread. These little amazon buys is a great idea to start things off.

Some comedy in the middle of this thread too. lol

First post, thought I'd contribute the few minor things I've done since I've gotten so many ideas from all of you.

I've replaced my interior lights with bright white LED's and I like them very much! I also put in some rubber inserts in all of the cubbys and storage areas along with the console divider thing, and tray. I didnt bother taking a picture since it seems nearly everyones done something similar.

I added some AJT climate control knobs, and will upgrade the shifter handles to match eventually. Hopefully they come out with radio knobs too.

I also built a shelf for in the back, since I rarely put the seats forward. I used that wire shelving thats common in closets and pantries. I zip-tied some rubber cabinet liner to the top, which is surprisingly grippy. I used some screw in cable clamps to secure it to the back seat. The legs are foldable boat seat legs. I wish I could take credit for imagining it, but I found instructions on pinterest, I only altered it a little. If you can make out that padlock hanging on the front of the shelf, it's one of those "Bolt Lock" padlocks thats keyed to my T4R key, as is my hitch lock. Love those things! I'll be adding a 2" wide velcro strip woven into the upturned edge as soon as China sends it on their slowboat.

Rodnaxela: Clever use of space with that cargo shelf! Do you use bungee cords to secure the items on top or does the shelf liner keep them in place well enough? Thanks for posting this.

The liner keeps most things in place well enough. I put the shelf in upside down so the lip goes up, instead of down like it would in a closet. That helps keep things from sliding off when I accelerate. I used some cheaper clip things to secure it to the seat backs the first go-round, but it pulled away when I had some water on it....I replaced them with better quality clips, but havent put water up there since.

I usually store long-term items underneath, like my bugout bag, and larger/heavier things (like water) in front of it on the floor. My first aid box usually stays under it too, but I moved it when I was cleaning and didnt put it back.

I'm looking for a Molle panel with the right dimensions to secure to the front, that bag thing I have there now is just a placeholder...it was on the seatbacks before, but makes a good shield hiding whats behind from prying eyes.

The only thing I'd change about it is I'd get legs with a larger footprint, since these are making little divots in the flooring.

…..how did you wire that window switch and is it always hot? Great idea for those of us that sleep in the truck when camping!! I already did the pop switch after getting locked in the rear while doing some other mod LOL.

Thanks!!

Thats exactly the purpose of that switch. for people that sleep in the trunk. Check who he tagged, hes the guy that makes the kits.

Zero airbag or other warning lights. I did a ...

Sadly, I still have the ECO bar, but I'm aware of how turn it off.

Use Techstream software. Cheap and easy to get off ebay. Allows changes to all sorts of settings incl that stupid bar. Carista is another app that MAY remove the eco bar and light.

Ah I see, its a for purchase kit...Hmmm I was wondering if anyone knows what wires were tapped into for the window control. The hardware part I already have (wire, switch etc) just not sure which wires to vampire clip.

Here is my latest interior mod. Changing the dash colors is something I did with my 4th gen a few years ago. It is quite a bit more challenging with the 5th gen but the results were definitely worth it.

Hi Cisco Kid. Do you happen to have pics of how you change the dash colors on your 4th gen??? I just bought a 2007 4runner limited V6, and I wanted to get some ideas!. Nice work on your 5th gen! Thanks!

Finally got around to moving the control head for the Icom to the roof console...

Other interior mods in the photo include the freshly installed Expedition Essentials T4RPAM (not the latest w/ the flush mounted USB plugs, but one version back); the overlay rear view mirror/dash cam/backup camera (records 1080p from the dash cam and 720p from a rear view cam and switches from being a mirror to displaying the camera by touching it); and the Fenix 4200 Mini switch panel.

Just ignore me trying to look at my phone screen and take a picture in the rear view mirror.

For those who swapped out your interior lights what did you go with? And did you do all interior lights, including doors?

Been looking today and prices seem to be all over the place. Just trying to find what works and won't break the bank in the process.

Thanks.

I've used Yorkim (ok quality/lifespan), Auxito (seem to be decent), and SiriusLED (bright, good color, and seem to have lasted the longest). All the brands are available on Amazon for an inexpensive price, downside, you have to piece them together instead of buying a kit.

I used Phillips vision LEDs in everything but the dome and hatch lights.

For those 3 lights I used VLED festoons.

I installed these puppies 3 weeks ago and theyve been great! Interior lights, reverse lights and license plate LEDs.

surprised no one has changed the carbonfiber gear shift trim... that random price of carbonfiber on the 5th gens is in terrible taste.

if someone did change it, please share what you have

Finally got around to moving the control head for the Icom to the roof console...

How well does that V1 read through the dotted section of the windshield in front of the rear-view mirrow? I'm about to buy a V1 and I want to mount it in the same place as yours, but I don't want to negatively affect its range.

Woah, do you have any more pictures of the Icom Mount? How did you secure it up there? I have a similar unit and would love to put it up there.

I just ordered the ArcLightLED kits for the map, dome, and hatch lights. Ordered some Lasfit LEDs for the doors, puddle lights, and license plate lights.
