Leveling spacers...

So I was curious if it's possible to turn the top plate of the strut assembly to keep the XREAS tubing in line with where it's supposed to be?
As in compress the spring, turn the top plate the appropriate amount and release the springs.



I have XReas and added 1/2" front spacers for a 1" lift. No turning of the top plate was necessary and I don't get why you would. The only time you would have to rotate the top plate 60 degrees is if you used spacers with staggered bolt holes. For the thin spacers they just bolt right in, although of course you have to fit longer studs.

The XReas hydraulic lines come into the bottom of the shocks so they aren't in your way one way or the other.
 
I have XReas on my '03 ... having them doesn't affect your ability to add spacers one way or the other; the hydraulic line to the shocks is well out of your way.

2" seems like a lot. I used 1/2" spacers to get about an inch of lift and I would say it's pretty much level now -- I think raising the front alone by 2" would make it nose-high.

just now seeing this, the questions you are replying to are almost 3 years old...

i decided against spacers after reading & confirming that the spacers i had for standard shocks would not work with XREAS due to different stud location on teh top hat, its not about the fluid line locations, the xreas spacers are different than the standard SR5 spacers.

i went with all four KYB shocks, coil overs in the front with new springs preinstalled & replacement shocks in the rear keeping the stock springs. the KYB definitely raised the front about 1.5-2" over the 140k miles original XREAS shocks, 2" does not make it nose high, most people offset the front about 2" from the rear to reach level, mine is very close to level but still a little lower in the front than rear, sits perfect for my needs & looks great IMO for a daily driver.

They are identical, I assure you. The top hat stud locations are 100% identical in X-REAS and non X-REAS versions. Toyota would be inviting disaster if they made them different.

You do need longer studs through.

i was just re-stating what others have said above & on other threads about spacers with xreas. maybe the longer studs fix this but my comments were regarding using stock studs & that the spacers for standard shocks wouldnt install right on xreas with all original parts.

i chose to avoid spacers or using longer studs to keep my old worn out xreas shocks & just replaced them with KYB coil overs that have new stiffer springs & accomplished the slight front lift i wanted & they ride far better than the old xreas shocks did.

My question was about a strut that was required to be spun 180 degrees for install. That would keep it from being usable by an xreas system, unless the top hat was spun so the bolts lined up again. Seems logical to me.
