LH Tail light cracked

Hello folks,

Wife called me that she cracked the left side tail light of the 2011 BLK SR5. In parking lot :<<.

Unfortunately I have to replace the whole thing since there is no such thing replacing just the plastic cover.

Can you recommend a trust-able site that I can order from? The local dealership asks for $239 part and $55 labor.

I am thinking of DIY, while not sure how hard is might be...

Thanks!
MN4R.

That sucks. Looks like a little more than just a cracked tail.

Not sure on the price but $239 doesn't sound too bad but $55 to swap it out is a bit much. They are pretty simple to replace so save $55 and DIY.

Part 81561-35360

Try here for $180 + shipping.

You might also try ebay. Sometimes you can get lucky and score some oem 5th gen parts.

DIY: Just took mine off today. The nut size is 10mm and there are two of them. The rest are just plastic poppers. Pull slowly away from the truck. Disconnect wire harness by pushing in small tab on the left hand side. What ever you do.... DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN when placing the tail light back, they break easy. Trust me :)

Using bofa's Part NBR: 81561-35360 can be had for $172.84 and it includes free FEDEX shipping. Unless you live in AZ there is no tax. There is a $3.00 handling fee. (free shipping over $60 and within size limitations)

Camelback Toyota Parts is your friend.

I use them all the time. Jorge is the man to talk to if you want to use the 800 number. He can also be found at tacomaworld.

Unfortunately, I pay tax cause I live in AZ, but Conicelli Toyota out of PA is also good. Camelback Toyota always beat them though.

edit: 35360 is the clear lens
35370 is the smoke lens

Midatlantictoyotaparts is a great site to get part numbers. Best I've found yet. Have not ordered from them as their price are high.

^ thanks for that link. I need to order a replacement trim piece and was trying to find a place with free shipping.

eBay. The cheap ones on there are the same ones that come on the vehicle, minus the brand marks. Replacement is a couple of 8 or 10mm nuts and a firm pull. Just make sure and where gloves when removing the cracked light - I didn't and got a nice 3 inch slice in my palm.

thank you all so much guys! Yes, my wife is totally fine except for being a little bit upset :)

And I appreciate a lot about the part number and websites. I will order the part today and DIY. BTW, I am living in MN. You can tell from my user name (MN4R). I assume changing the assembly is easier than the touch up paint, hhe.

Again thanks everybody.
