License Plate Frame

Anybody here got an opinion of how the license plate frame in box "H" would look on a 4 Runner? I would love to see a picture of a 4 Runner with it before I order them. I'm thinking of ordering the chrome "4Runner" frame for my black 2004 Runner. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. THX. ;)

I went with the new 4th gen logo so it would match. Here's a picture of my frame.

If you live in TX be aware that I believe it is now illegal for you to have one on the rear of the truck. I do recall reading it somewhere. Sounded lame but apparently true now.

So if you live in TX or travel to Tx, please becareful. :)

I live in Texas but 99% of the vehicles here have a license plate frame, even if it is the lame ones the dealer gives you. I think that you just can't obscure any portion of the lettered license plate.

Sec. 502.409. WRONG, FICTITIOUS, ALTERED, OR OBSCURED [UNCLEAN] LICENSE PLATE.

(a) A person commits an offense if the person attaches to or displays on a motor vehicle a number plate or registration insignia that:

(7) has a coating, covering, or protective material that:

(A) distorts angular visibility or detectability; or

(B) alters or obscures the letters or numbers on the plate, the color of the plate, or another original design feature of the plate.

THX for the heads up though. :D

TKR128 where did you get your plate frame?? Online or local store, etc,..?? The pics I show of the plate frames are from

http://www.autoattire.com/toylicplatfr.html

They describe the plate as "factory font", I'm now not sure whether they will be shipping the font shown in the pic or the "new" 4 RUNNER logo you have. (I like them both though) I'll certainly call them tomorrow before it is shipped. THX for your response and the pic.:D

Which dealer did you get yours from?
Do they have black ones with the new 4Runner font?
How much did it cost?
I am from So Cal, too.. Thanks.

I got it through Longo. When I bought mine (September 03), they only had the black writing on chrome, not sure if they have a different style now. It was about $40, but I got a 15% discount from a coupon I got in the mail. I think if you mention you're an internet customer, you can get a 15% discount too. Hope this helps you out.

No, its' not custom (I think I bought it at Pep Boys, I have had it for about 8 years) but I haven't seen them in a while.

Iman

My take on the 4Runner is <RUGGED>, So actually the diamond plate and the references to O.C. Choppers and Monster garage fit perfectly. Thanks for the compliment. :D

Now I'm curious Iman, how do you view you 4Runner? Ricey? Bling-Bling? Too nice to get dirty?

Plus it ain't breakin'. That is why I've had it so long. And also it doesn't rust either because it is stainless steel.

Bling bling, too nice to get dirty...that's just too funny. No if you saw my truck you would think I do not love it. In fact it's just the opposite, every nick, all the dirt stains, the dirt on the truck, the marks caused by trying to install the foglights, cuts through the firewall, etc. is all out of love.

Naaa when I drive my 4 Runner I feel proud. When I see that small car trying to make it up the heel in the snow, and I pass with ease I must say out loud with a manly grunt, "TRUCK TRUCK TRUCK".

I love my 4 Runner and I would not trade it in for anything. Not even a Hummer.....THE VEHICLE...get your head out of the gutter :D

Stainless steel? Are you serious? All the times I see those "diamond plate" license plate frames, they are all made out of plastic. Is that really metal?

I tell you no lie. I have had it at least 8 yrs. It has graced many Toyota trucks, seen at least 8 mid-atlantic winters and not a speck of rust. And you are right I have seen some plastic knock-offs but have not seen the S.S. ones in a long time. It looked especially good on the black '97 4Runner with the chrome bumper.

I have the same one on my Dodge and I've had that for 8 years so I can vouch for you. I've seen some cheap pot metal ones with much smaller diamonds but they dont look 'right'.
