Sorry for the late response! The boss are a little stiffer than average but I’m going to get a rear spare tire carrier eventually. I would have gotten an icon or king lift kit, but out of my
Price range. Overall, the ride is nice and much better than it was stock.

Very nice! My rear boss shocks just got delivered today. I'm pairing them with 3" Dobinson springs and then getting the Toytec/Bilstein coilovers up front. Pretty excited to see how this thing rides.

Questions about wheels:

I'm planning on getting some aftermarket rims that are lug centric. What do I need to know about mounting lug centric rims onto hub centric axles? Specifically, do I need this hub centric mounting rings? https://amzn.to/2QjGOwB

And the new wheels (they're Jegs steel D-Windows) will have 1" less backspacing, which is like adding a 1" wheel spacer, right??

how much lift did you gain over the daystar kit. i'm also looking to upgrade from a daystar

sorry for the late response.

the front went up about 1.5" over the height of the Daystar lift. Rear was stock height until I installed the 2" Icon lift springs. I can definitely tell the difference.

So i'm brand new to the 4th gen world. Literally just bought a 2005 Sport from a friend today that needs some love but I plan on getting it back into nice shape. I'm sorry if this has been asked 100 times but what's the deal with swapping 5th gen suspension under the 4th gen? Does it offer any lift? Is it a direct swap or require modification? I'm very mechanically inclined, been a mechanic for 20 years, just want to know what i'm getting into before I get into it. I have the stock suspension off my 2016 SR5 and figure why not swap it into the 4th gen since it's all original with 250K miles on it.

All, new to forum. Have an 03 with 3" lift I am building with my son for his ride in a couple of years. Just bought SCS Ray10s 17 inch. How big a tire can I ride? I know that there might be some trimming required but not sure what the trimming consists of. I don't want to have to do anything structural and I want it to be safe.

32", 33"?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

According to the suspension FAQs:

3/2
275/70R17 (32.2 x 10.8)
285/70R17† (32.6 x 11.2)
255/80R17* (33 x 10)

* requires removal of mud flaps and probably minor trimming
† requires trimming and may require body mount chop (click here for details on body mount chop), upper control arms, and/or increased backspacing.

Add 5 to the middle number for 16" wheels, subtract 5 for 18" wheels (265/75R16=265/70R17=265/65R18)

The above assumes you're using stock wheels and no wheel spacers. Aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers will increase rubbing, more trimming will need to be done in order to fit the listed size.

Our lift, 3/2 will fit 285/70/17's, sometimes depending on the brand tire it might slightly rub, but only say doing a u-turn and hitting a bump, but that can easily be fixed with spidertrax spacers on the factory wheels. If you have aftermarket wheels, no worries at all.

3/2 with stock tires

I also have a 2/1, 1" leveling kit, AND can make ANY SIZE kit you want CUSTOM for the exact look you want. Let me know. Below is from a recent customer:

2/1 leveling kit came out awesome. It sits perfect and alignment even stayed the same.

Note: the driver side rear spacer is made thicker, which fixes the driver side lean that all these trucks have. After installed the rear will also be level, which most don't always know.

I've got a Daystar Spacer kit and I went one size bigger from 265/65r17 to 265/70r17 which is equivalent to your 16's. I had minor rubbing but I moved the fender liner forward maybe an inch or two forward and I get zero rubbing now anywhere.

2006 V6 4WD Sport Edition. 5100s set to 0" and Wheelers T1/T12. Goodyear Silent Armor 265/70r17 tires that are 5 years old. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/236245-mrpinks-build-thread.html was my inspiration.

X-REAS had 140k miles on it, so I needed a replacement. It took me forever to decide because there's so many conflicting posts on this forum about different setups being too stiff/not stiff enough, etc etc. This lift feels like stock X-REAS to me, which is what I wanted. My wife agrees. I can still take turns fast (it does lean a little more than X-REAS), but the ride is comfortable. The big test for me is a section of the Jersey Turnpike that has 2 big dips in the road in succession. When I hit them at 70 mph before the lift, the car used to drop low in the first one, then on the rebound hit the second dip and drop even lower. I used to be scared it would bottom out. With the new lift I can feel the 5100s dampen that drop really well. Overall, if you want an affordable lift solution that isn't just a mashup of parts from the classifieds, I would recommend this lift. I think I spent around $900 on parts. I do have a leaking CV Boot on one side, and the driver's side needle bearing in the front diff is grinding, so those will have to be fixed.

My only real complaint right now is that the front didn't lift as high as I wanted. Do you think I can set the 5100s to .85 and not be nose high? I haven't taken measurements yet, but from other threads I think there's room to go up .85" in the front. I'll need to replace tires in the next year, so I might bump the front up to .85", put a spacer in the rear if it needs it, and go up in tire size to 275/70r17 KO2.
