Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Adjusted my front coilovers to get a little more clearance. No more rubbing and the ride is still pretty good.

your original post asked for pros and cons of a body lift, the only real con is the frame being exposed and it is ugly. pro's include more room to fit larger tires and keeps the COG lower. something suspension lifts cant do, also most IFS suspension lifts dont do anything for increased travel (i said most, i am sure with 4Runner's being coil sprung opposed to torsion sprung the benefit of longer coils is great)

still new to 4Runners but i can help out when i can. carry on with the thread, all the trucks look great. i dont have any pics to post yet because i am still stock.

The body does weigh less but you are still raising it.....:thumb3:

please read the bold section of the quote, it keep the COG lower i didnt say it didnt raise it at all.

Ju trying to make it clear for people that might not understand. The BL keeps the COG lower THAN A FULL SUSPENSION LIFT is what he really meant....:hatsoff:

fj & 5100s

Thx Seevix You know the guy says don't hit send, did that last night ! dooh Will get some better 1s need new batt. for camera , like everyone says it does ride better too!!

Body lifts also put extra stress on body mounts & bolts as there is more leverage applied to those when stopping, starting, side-to-side, etc. Body lifts are often frowned upon and used in moderation in the off-road community for this reason.

The small .5-1.5 BLs for the 4R aren't usually enough to create problems, but some people put larger body lifts on vehicles and over 2-3" starts to become problematic.

How's the ride with the heavy OME's? and do you rub with those 305's? Sweet Ride!

Ride was a little stiff at first it smoothed out after about 4 months riding with the sway bar in. Took the front sway bar out and no more roughness i do keep about 300 extra pounds on the rear axle compared to stock though plus the big V8 softins up the front. When i put a steel bumper on I'll probably have to use a stiffer coil or put my sway bar back in. Minnor trimming on the front bumper and the bottom of the factor fender flare to get rid of rubbing. I get a little rub on the body mount pinch weld at full lock/ wheel flexed up Thanks for the like I've def. got some more plans for this rig.

Since you mentioned this, is there any real easy or easier way to get the rear bolt off the top of the strut?

If just un bolt your front sway bar (the 4 bolts on the frame) an let it hang you can wiggle around the sway bar end links and remove the entire strut tower add ur spacers or rebuild your tower then re-install. This is what i did, main trouble i had was forcing the lower controll arm down to put the new strut tower back in. then i realized my urithane bushings were binding up just had to loosin the upper an lower control arm bolts. everything went back in fine.

Wanted to post most recent pics in this thread with my new-ish wheels. Since my last photo post in this thread i have repainted my silver door handles, grill and rear hatch piece. I also replaced my silver roof rack with a black Urban Runner rack and replaced my running boards with black step tubes. Really liking the new look.....:boink:

I'n just literally copying my post from another thread to here, since I can finally join the club! Thank you all, and big thanks to Ark of course!

Well - here's the results from today... I'm embaraased at how long it took me to finish the front.

I set the Billies at .85 but also added the Toytec 1/2'' (1'' net) spacer. It looks like I got exactly 2'' on the front from this.

I'll take some better/cleaner pictures tomorrow after I raise the back. I just gotta decide if I'm going to only use the 1'' rear with my stock coils or use the FJ rear coils I snagged, or maybe use both? I plan to keep my Air Lift 1000 bags either way. I just don't want too much rake, especially with the current tires, but need it to be able to haul loads of camping gear without sagging. Current measurements are as follows:

Fr Driver = 35''
Fr Passenger = 35 1/4''
Rr Driver = 35 3/4''
Rr Passenger = 36''

I can honestly say that the ride blew me away. Not harsh at all, but seemingly more controlled, and just absolutely soaks up all any imperfections in the road. Seriously - the Wife was impressed as well, which was one of my biggest concerns. Alignment feels great, but I know it'll need adjusted. I'll get that done this week with inspection.
