Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Just got my wheels and tires on finally. 285 Duratracs and 17" SCS matte dark bronze wheels. Height-wise I'm still running Icon coilovers and FJ rear springs.

Can't stop staring at it now.

Are you anywhere near the KC area? I would love to see those wheels in person.

Tire evolution! 265>255>285

No rubbing with those?

I trimmed the front fender liner up 4" where it would rub when turning and the lower corner of the painted rear fender beside the body mount. Far from offroad ready but it'll be easily driveable until I install my 3" lift coils and crank the coilovers.

Benn cruising around on some FJ coils for a few years I think it's time to put something new on. So maybe I will go for one more inch to clear my 285's better. The bottom picture was the add picture when I found it for sale in 2011. If you look at the line on the wall it give you a idea on how much higher it sits. The back actually has 1 inch more than front currently.

Finally done. Got 2 inches in the front and an inch in the back. Moog front coils and new 5th gen rear coils on bilstein 5100's. Sorry for the bad pics... Waiting to get it aligned for better ones. First shop said camber bolts were seized so got an appointment at the stealer-ship Monday... Hope they don't charge too much... Anyone else have that problem? Sounds like it happens a lot on our runners...

Hope you have a large bank account...
Do the cam bolts yourself. You can buy good greasable ones for around $60. High quality Sawzall blade for cutting high strength steel and you're all set.

Should I get new bushings too? I found the moog part number on the bolts (k100128).

good to know that the 5th gen coils yield 1" of rear lift. Whats the ride like? are they bouncy

Not bouncy at all from what I've driven so far. But know that my old suspension was 160k old and I think the xreas was blown.. I haven't driven the new setup much bc I'm trying to wait until it's properly aligned.

If they are all seized up you will need the whole package. What happens is the can bolts weld themselves to the bushings and the bushings stick the the lca and it all becomes one piece that can't move properly anymore. Major pita. I skipped rebuilding and bought completely new lca's with all the bushings and balljoints installed, then bought new cam bolts too.

Save yourself the trouble and get OEM adjuster bolts. The Moog bolt cams bend and wallow out making it difficult to align more than the first time. Also way easier to buy complete arms instead of rebuilding the original arms. Some have had luck rebuilding but the Moog bushings I got were junk and didn't fit tight enough so I had to do the job again. Bought everything twice in 5k miles. Do it once the right way.

Got 885s in front and icon 2" coils in rear... Way better then stock springs at highest setting on the 5100s and daystar 2" coil in the rear.
