Goodyear Duratrac 255-75R17 Reviews
Does anyone have any reviews on the Goodyear duratrac 255-75 R17 tires. I think I am about ready to get a new set of tires and I am leaning towards this tire and size due to it being the largest that should reliably fit in the spare tire location for the V8 model tow hitch. I live in northeast Texas so I dont see a lot of snow or ice. I plan to offroad about 20% of the time. the rest will be city/highway driving.
Does anyone have any reviews or pictures of these tires they can point me to? Or a better recommendation based on experiences with these tires?

Thanks to the extensive information in this forum, I finally got around to putting on Bilstein 5100's with some FJ coils to replace the stock XREAS that I had on.
I have 290000 km on my V6 '03 and after reading the entire thread and the other one on Bilstein/FJ conversion, I was pretty comfortable in what I needed.
Set the 5100 fronts at the 1.75" setting and bought set of Daystar 1.5" spacers for the rear. Figured while i was under there, I would replace the sway bar bushings and links, front and rear. Then thought, might as well do the ball joints too since one was cracked...ended up just getting new LCA's. UCA's were more difficult to source here in Canada, without paying almost $600/side so skipped them.
Installation was fairly smooth. Had to break out the recip saw to cut off the tops of the rear shocks because of the corrosion, despite me spraying PB blaster every week for four weeks prior on all the connections I knew I would be removing. The LCA's also did not budge for me when trying to remove them so ended up getting the shop who did the alignment to cut them out and put the new ones in.
Everything else was pretty straightforward.
I ended up with 11.5 cm (4.52")ift in the front and 10cm (4.0)in the rear. Scared the hell out of me. Thought that I would mess up the driveline, brake line etc and how was it that much lift. Then, I realized the old suspension was obviously way past due to be replaced and had sagged below the original levels. (
Had the alignment done and I am supper happy. Feels like a new truck, no more wallowing in the corners and nice and tight all around.

Put the snow tires on after, since I had to do it anyway...

(The summer and snow tires are the same size and I also measured them to ensure consistency in height after measuring.)
Next spring, I will put on new rims and tires but for now, I will leave everything as is.

My current setup: Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's 255-75R17 and Wheelers T1/T12 springs with Bilstein Shocks. Set at 0" position with 1/4" tophat spacers.
Traded in my 03 for an 08 two weeks ago. Before and after pics below

Final numbers and pics of my lift 03 v8 limited
Let me start by saying. Thanks to the forum for its wealth of information. I. Started with xreas with 147k on it and I thought it rode and handled good just too dam low for my purposes. My intent was to lift it 2" front 1.5 back but it didn't turn out that way. Apparently the 15 year old xreass had settled a bit so I netted a bit more than anticipated which is just fine. More lift equals more travel and that's good.
Here is what I started at

We pulled out the dress and all plumbing. On the front we installed toytec 112-620 springs on 5100 set at factory. And finished with jba standard highster uca. With toytec 1/4" spacer drivers side.
On the rear I went with bilstien 5160 and 1.5" sway away springs with ome trim packer drivers side
I ended up at

Totally happy with the end result. While On the lift I inspected the frame and found zero rust and 95% of the frame paint (one owner California rig) intact the missing paint being scraped off by me while trying to wheel in a low rider. There are a lot of 4runners here in so cal with no rust, they come at a premium but you get a rig with no rust.

I'll keep an eye out for you. I'm in Dana Point also. Who did you have install the lift?
Just picked up my first runner, 03 SR5 Sport and just threw on a Daystar 2.5”F/1.5”R levelling kit with 17x8 SCS Ray 10s and a set of 285/75/17 K02s. Fender liners removed, flares trimmed, bumper trimmed. Body mount chop up next!

looks sweet! those are retreads? which OME springs did you go with?

Thank you! they're technically retread....but they are old cases with new rubber/tread glued to it. for the price point, and being MTs, i couldn't complain. they balanced well and so far, so good! i have used them quite a bit in my job. we used 885/895 springs. they are great so far as we don't intend to add a RTT or bumper.
