Lift help

I have been lurking for awhile well before we bought 4R. My wife and I got a 2012 SR5 last March and absolutly love it. I need some help with deciding on which lift. I have looked through most of the 165 pages or so of the lift sticky but I cant seem to really find exactly what I am looking for so I am going to ask.

I am looking at a toytec lift but cant decide which one.
3" spacer/2"ToyTec coils or 2.5" spacer/2"Toytec Coils. I will add coil overs in the front when funds are available. I am wanting to keep the 265/70/17 tire size.

Does anyone have any pictures of your 4R with either 2.5" or 3" front and a 2" rear with 265's you can post? I am wanting the coils since I pull a 21ft bass boat sometimes when were not in my pickup. It will help with sag.

You mentioned you tow with the 4runner. A 3"/2" will result in a level truck when unloaded and a saggy rear-end when towing. I would go with the 2.5"/2" (It will still sag, but not as bad)
What are you trying to achieve with the lift?

I dont tow often with the 4runner. I use my Silverado 99% of the time. Just thinking in the off chance that I have to it wont sag to bad. I am looking to level it out mainly and get a little more ground clearance. We usually take a trip to CO every summer and try to get a trail or two in while we are there and it would help there also. I am leaning towards the 2.5"/2. Do you think it will level it out or will leave a little rake?
I am afraid the the 3/2 will make the tires look small keeping the 265's.

Level is hard to say because there are different reference points, but typically people use the wheel arches. The 2.5/2 will leave a very slight rake and 3/2 will make it level. To be honest, either lift will make your 265s look small. Considering your primary goal/ budget, I would start with 5100s in front to level it. You can build on this at a later point
(when u get bigger tires) with lift springs and 5100s in the rear.

Front I'd do 5100's @ 2.5" (can be upgraded to toytec C/O later)

Rear I'd do 5100's, daystar 1.5" spacer and Firestone airbags (can upgrade to 2" toytec springs and reuse the airbags later too)

That should cover all your needs, but note it might look a little weak with those tires. I'd go with BFG TA K/O 285/70/17 D's

I went a little on the cheap side and went Procomp with 2.5 rear, 3" front. I do regret the lack of rake. I also regret the stiff and out-of-level Procomp coil decision, though I am pleased I picked up Icon UCA's.

If I were you, I would keep it stock until you can buy exactly the lift you want and don't pick up something you might regret which is still expensive enough.

If you're going to keep the 265s then lifting won't give you any additional clearance at the rear diff, which is your lowest point I believe.

I think this is a better set up for you if trying to stay with a stock size. As for rears if your doing 1.75 up front go with the saw 1.5 in the rear.

I ran 884's w/top outs up front and superflex in the rear and my 285's looked small. and the superflex gave me more like 2.5

I think this is bad idea. The saws are giving most people 2". If you want to do 1.75 upfront then do the 1.5 daystar spacers w/ 5100 in back. If you need extra carrying capacity for trailers or gear then add the air bags. If you use toytecs you'll end way ass high. Same with saws, more rake. If your into that ok, but most are looking for a more level ride.

I did this exact thing and now I'm taking it out. If you are planning on getting bigger tires in the future I would wait and save some cash and get the lift you want. I was impatient with mine and did the 5100/Daystar combo and wasn't too happy with it. I bought the Toytec coilover kit to turn my 5100s into the Ultimate coilovers. I still have a set of Superflex springs sitting in the garage that I haven't had time to install.

If you are paying someone for installation be sure you will be happy with the setup you settle on, otherwise you just keep on paying. If you want to buy things piecemeal, you can get the 5100s on a couple sites pretty cheap, then get the coilover kit from Toytec and it saves $2-300. Rear springs are fairly inexpensive.
