Lift Question

885s are 5mm longer than 884s. and the bar diameter is .5mm thicker. Spring rate is the same.
It will sit a tad lower with the v8. I got the 885s just in case I get a bumper in the future.
As for CV angles, mine are fine. No diff drop either.
You probably wont need UCAs for anything under 2.5" lift, but its nice to have them if you ever want to go higher and have better caster and no uca rubbing at full droop.

I'm in a similar boat. 5100s and Moog coils on now but have a front bumper enroute and the Moogs didn't quite get me the height I was after.

Based on Momo.75's build, I'm thinking I can get away with 884s (5100s set to zero) and Superflexes? He has his 884s set on the first clip but also has a V8 and DO front bumper (I'll be running the SW with no winch for the foreseeable future).

Might just get the bumper on and see where we net out. Either will move the 5100s up a notch with the Moog springs or swap front/rear entirely. Not against new UCAs but have relatively new CVs that I'd like to get some life out of. Guessing if I went with 885s, UCAs would be mandatory for road manners.

At the end of the day, looking for modest height 2.5" and level rig.

Thoughts?

they dont recommend going up from bottommost setting of 5100s with lift springs keep in mind

Yup I've read that too but Momo has run that setup for years. I wouldn't go above the first clip but am trying to avoiding pre-loading a lift spring at all if possible.

And just to clarify, moving the settings on 5100s with OEM springs should be fine.

that is good to know. if i got added weight in front to go to the first one-up setting. then again considering you have to take the suspension off to lift it to that notch i might end up dropping the $150 on proper springs at that point anyway... good luck

Yeah, that's kinda where I'm at, especially with my current lack of free time.

I'm pretty set on Superflexes in back but the conundrum is what to run up front to level me out, avoid preload and support the new SW bumper.

May roll the dice and throw on 884s much to the chagrin of my credit card...

Update: Using my stimulus bill to order 886 and 896 with 5100s all the way around, and got the KYB mounts. Still deciding on UCA's. Gonna use my tax return for an ARB bumper to help the front from being to stiff

In my pic I have an aftermarket tire carrier and full size spare and some heavy Rock sliders and tools in cargo and I still have a little bit of rake which I don't mind but the 895 e definitely has a fair amount of lift from what I can tell. 885/895 sounds like a good combo. If no planned weight added w v8 maybe even the 884/895 or 884/895e

I didnt research a ton on the v8 it might be 885 for front more often*

Can somebody confirm ? I was under the belief that 895 and 885 go together like peanut butter and jam... but if 885/895 E is better for equal leveled than would like to know .
Since you guys initially helped me, I thought it was best to let yall know I ended up going with 886 in the front and 896 in the rear. Going to be getting JBA High Caster Arms, not getting uniball, and went with 886 because I am going to put an ARB bumper up front. Thanks yall for the help!

Good call on sticking with ball joints on the UCA's. I've played with a few second hand sets of the uniball from several brand name companies. The original owners removed them due to lack of serviceability and cost of parts. I agreed and pawned them off to other folks. :bounce:
