Lift Suggestions-'97 SR5 4X4

I'm sure this question has come up before on this site, but I am seriously considering getting a Suspension lift. I want it to be 2"-3" and right now I am leaning towards a Toytec Lift(OME coils) with Bilstein 5100's all the way around. I have also heard that the 00-06 Tundra TRD coils work great. And which coils would you recommend from OME such as the 881 with the top plate spacer vs. the 883. And then the 906 vs the 890. I offroad atleast Twice a week and just want to be able to do more. All suggestions are helpful. Thanks guys!

Yea I saw that and it did help a lot, but i was wondering what your guys' opinion was...like combonations of the coils that work best or best shocks for front/rear.
 
I lifted my 97 SR5 about 5 weeks ago, 220k miles, and went with the 891's and 883's the rear end shocks i went with were pro comp 9000 and pro comp 6000 in the front. The OME shocks are too expensive. Pro comps have been run before and they will do me just fine. Thus, far i LOVE it, but it has magnified some noises on the front end. I believe because of my mileage i need new sway bar link bushings. Since i have done this suspension lift (3"), it is imperative that i do the 231mm TBU upgrade (because it is an addiction now and the braking power is a necessity).

Altogether, the coils from Fat Bob's garage, diff drop purchased as well, totaled $460, while the pro comps totaled $230.

All done by myself, AND i have never worked on a car before!

You will not regret!
 
I never like the look of a saggy rear end when you add weight. So I wanted 3" front and 3.5 rear. I went with ome 881 up front with ome comfort shocks and 1" lift sleeve. Rear 7 wrap LC coils with tokico shocks. Love the setup.
 
I went with OME 883/891 and OME shocks, mainly because I plan on adding bumpers and hate the look of sagging. It rides a little stiff but I also never have any passengers or much gear with me.

Hopefully the 891's work for you! I have about 3k miles on mine and they sag like a mother with only 200lbs in the rear. I'm swapping them out with Toytec's Superflex springs next month.
 
With the 883 Coils it says that it is required to have the Old Man Emu 90004 front shocks. Is that True?? Or can I go with any other shocks such as Bilsteins 5100 adjustables or just the regular 5100's?
 
I went with Toytec coils up front, 8 wrap Landcruiser coils in the rear, Bilstein 5100's in all 4 corners, made an adjustable panhard bar and installed a diff drop.

Perfect for me!

You can use any shock. Don't need to use OME shocks, they suck anyway IMO. One thing you haven't mentioned is budget. I am a big fan of:

Tundra TRD/5100's up front
890's/Stock Landcruiser shocks in the rear.

Gives a nice lift, keeps the back a little higher than the front, offers a great ride on the road and won't break the bank.

I am one of the few that always suggests a diff drop. For the panhard bar, I'd go with an adjustable bar rather than the drop bracket. The drop bracket has it's benefits but the adjustable bar is much stronger than the bracket IMO.

How much of a lift does this give it? And do you know the part #'s for the LC shocks and TRD tundra coils? And what about just putting the 5100's all the way around?

The front lift will depend on what setting you put the front shocks on. I'd go middle ring and get about 2.5" or so. The rear will give a solid 3" lift. You could do 5100's all around but I think it's more money then you need to spend for the rear. The stock LC shocks work great and are a lot cheaper. Don't have part #'s handy, sorry. But look for the Tundra TRD springs in the classifieds or on YotaTech. They're out there.

So for the front would you recommend the 5100 adjustables or just the regular ones? And the years for the TRD coils is 00-06 correct? What about the years for the stock LC shocks?

LC shocks = 1996 land cruiser. I've got TRD coils up front with a 1.5" spacer on top. LC coils in the rear. good combo.
 
I got OME springs and shocks (see sig below).
The springs seem fine, stiff when empty, firm when loaded. The shocks seem primitive and rough, though they did mellow out a bit after a month and few full loadings. I'll investigate swapping out the OME shocks for Bilsteins when I feel rich.
