Lift/Tire/Wheel central

You may have to find a wheel you like and have it powder coated. I've seen some bronze wheels pop up lately, but not gold.

Yea I agree with you, I think the TRD's in Bronze would be a good fit. So far they're the best looking rim that will pull the gold lettering out. Need to see if the 16x7.5's will fit over the Tundra mod.

Hey y'all! I need new tires and I want to put 285/75/16 BFG KO2's on my 4runner. I don't have any lifts or wheel spacers and I need to know if I will rub too much or not? Also, my next purchase after the tires is going to suspension. How do you guys feel about OME 881 front with top spacers (3") and OME 891 rear (3") with just regular, non-adjustable Bilstein 5100's? I have done my research, I would just like to hear some opinions. Thanks!

They worked well enough for what I needed but I got rid of my rc rear lift and went with ome 861s and Tjm shocks

Asaspades93. I dig the 255/ split 5 combo you are running, those tires are my next set. On your lift, are you on the first notch with the ibach and then 861 in the rear, or second notch? Do you think it will settle a bit in the rear with plate/tire carrier on the back?

Off topic:
I totally could have picked a better title for the window screens, oh well, I'm glad you found the idea useful, it's one of those mods you can do while camping, just make a quick stop at hardware store a 5 minutes of cutting and your done.

Check out Level 8 wheels at Discount Tire. They have a few models that come in bronze. And the 16s have all fit the Tundra brakes.

Thanks man!:biggrin2: I'm running on the first notch for now but once I get new ucas I'm gonna go to the seconds notch to help with the weight of the front bumper. I forgot my exact measurements, front hub to fender is I think 24.5 inches, and rear is something like 27ish inches, and thats with the body lift/ The rear should settle a bit, I have a hybrid rear in the works that should be going on next week so I can let you know for sure

Here are the ones I'm seriously considering: I think the TRD's PTR18-35090-BR are pretty decent and somewhat in budget. Love the Volks but way too costly for my blood, a weekend warrior, and for a T4R with more than 300K on it. It's in immaculate condition but need to be careful on how and where I invest my money in this rig. (engine, tranny and suspension being the highest priorities).

Specs;

Bolt Pattern - 6 x 5.5
Hub Bore - 106.1
Width - 7.5 (I think I may need to go to 8)
Offset 10

My "coke bottles" fit on the 231mm mod without any problem but I want to convert them over to my winter set. Hate to drop a grand in wheels only to find out they don't fit. I did see the TRD wheel on the Speedy's Garage video and he did a 231mm mod.

Perhaps I'm wrong here, but I did my suspension lift first. I think it's important to make sure your suspension is set up correctly BEFORE you start to drag around big tires on stock shocks and springs. Next you should think about doing the brake mod so you can support those big tires. Yea, my T4R looks a bit funky with the coke bottles and Goodyear Fortera's but I don't care. My suspension is solid, brakes are solid, now it's time to upgrade the wheels once winter is gone. Do your research and plenty of it before you purchase!!!!

BTW - I went with the Toytech Ultimate lift, Eibach and Billy's in front and OME in the back along with new UCA's. These guys are professionals and they have some tried and true setups.

Nice, thanks man!
I've been going back and forth on either eibach or tundra springs so I do appreciate the measurements and without the body lift you'd be right where I'd like to sit when I'm done with my lift install and 255

Toytec boss kit preloaded to 3" up front.
285/70/17 toyo rt tires wrapped around metallic bronze sequoias/tundra split spoke. I needed 1.5" wheel spacers to clear the stock ucas.

The toytec lift is great for the price. It gets the job done and doesn't let me down. But I will go full icon mid travel eventually.

This is tundra coils, superflex rear. 285/70 trail grapplers. I wanted an in-between size to help eliminate rubbing, but still be a bigger tire. I sometimes wish I had gone 285/75, but overall I like the set-up. Wheels are American racing I believe, bought em used and thats what I was told.IMG_1021.jpg

Decided to go with the Level 8 MK6 with a -10 offset. Went up to a 17" wheel for more stability and am running Toyo A/T's 285/70R/17's. Puts the height at 32.8" and fits under the fender flares perfectly. No adapter/spacer needed. The bronze pulls out the gold letter edition and compliments the Imerial Jade color.

Pretty excited about putting the deadener, carpet, sliders etc on this weekend. :biggrin1:  :biggrin1:

Please advise.

Hey Everyone! Need some advice. I have a 2001 4Runner w/ 285 70 17 tires and a 3 in lift- per the advice of my local off-roading shop. Car looks great but wheels are much too large for tire well. When I go off-roading tires rub on wheel well, especially in the back. Off-roading shop people are incompetent & un-professional; they won't take responsibility for job badly done. Not sure what to do- please advise how to fix this issue w/o decreasing tire size. Would any of the following work?

1. Body lift
2. Spacers
3. Air shocks

Not experienced with lifts & trusted local company. Now I want a second opinion. I appreciate your time :)

Not too sure what to tell you. The standard tire upgrade with a suspension lift is 285/70/17's or 285/75/16's. Some use spacers (adapters) some don't but never heard of anyone having problems with 285's. It looks like your wheels are set in pretty deep. I have a -10 offset which brings my wheels out flush with the fender flares. It also allows me to run the tundra brake upgrade.

You need to expand your description a bit more and let everyone know where the contact is in the wheel well. Top, inside, back, front etc...

I didn't want to go with spacers or a body lift. It changes the dynamics of all of the other moving parts. AKA: More potential for stress and failures.

Good luck. Keep us all posted as to what the fix is.

Here's a picture of mine with the same tire size. Notice how the tire is flush with the flare without using a spacer.

Part 2

So here is a picture of what the actual tire looks like when I go off-roading. As you can see the entire wheel is almost touching the wheel well. The most rubbing happens on the bumper- so the back of the wheel well. It completely rubs against it and makes a really bad sound. (Only on back tires, front are fine)

Again this is a 3 in lift with 285 70 17 tires. I don't have an offset or spacers currently, but trying to find a solution for this problem.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks guys.

I'm befuzzled -

Not sure how to help you. IT doesn't look like Spacers will fix that and neither will an offset wheel. It definitely is the wheel diameter. I'm not sure if a body lift will help either. Hopefully another member on the forum has a suggestion. A lot of folks run the same tire you're running.

Keep us posted. Hope you get it figured out.

Extend the bump stops and ditch the rear bumper.

Are you sure there's 3 inches of lift? That looks a little low to be 3 inches. Could we get a photo of the whole side?

Any body have pictures of their 3-4" lift before they got tires, when they still had 265 70 16 or with 265 75 16? I want to install my lift but don't wanna look like I skipped leg day.
