Lift

I plan on purchasing a lift in the next few days...depending on which one I go with some of the coils go by standard, med, heavy...

Eventually I also plan on getting a new front bumper from SW. They say for the coils do not get the med coils unless the weight is already installed. If I go with the stand coils now and install a bumper later, will I have to replace those coils for med??

Many are running the med coils with no added weight other than the V8 and it rides just like stock. Its not rough or bouncy without weight. Get the medium coils and wait for the bumper.

I'm running a V6

SPENK05...You're in Incline? I'm in South Lake!

And just noticed, Casper is in truckee

Haha wow, thats awesome! We should definitely do some wheelin! Since my lift isnt on yet, Ive been doing random trails around the lake and following my buddys' rock crawler rigs as far as I can on the Rubicon so we have a supplies rig. Once I get the lift on Im down to do some real wheelin. Ive been missing it since my days in the big truck back in Texas

Likewise on the lift...Trying to figure out what to throw on this thing...

I'd like to put this on
FJ Cruiser/4Runner Ultimate 3" lift package - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits

Is your runner stock now?

With the v6 I believe you'll want 884 fronts at stock weight or 885s with a aftermarket bumper. If you don't mind a stiffer ride, you can do the 885s now to prepare for down the road. That's my understanding, anyone care to confirm?

Yeah Im stock for the next couple weeks! The Toytec Ultimate is one helluva lift. Are you installing it yourself? With coilovers (or anything replacing XREAS for that matter) seems pretty damn easy and fun enough to do yourself.

If I have the funds, it's the one I'm going for...Me and my roomie will be installing it, he's damn good with runners. If I have to go a little cheaper I think I will go with the OME full suspension....What lift are you looking at?

So, I've got a 2006 Limited and just ordered/rec'd the Toytec Ultimate 3" Lift last week. I've got it sitting downstairs in my garage waiting to be installed. I did a lot of research and felt like even though it might be overkill for my needs (I don't offroad, just do mainly Beach Driving) it was high quality and with 85K miles, I might as well do it right and skip a spacer lift. Everyone I PM'd about it, LOVES IT. Also, I want to go with the GY Duratracs at 275/65R18 and that would better help me fit them.

Coming into this I thought I would be able to fit this tire with this lift, no issues (without moving the liner forward or any trimming)... Now I'm not quite sure. I've seen a few different guys having some rubbing issues with this size. Although, Ultramontanist runs a OME lift with 275/65R18 Nitto Terra Grapplers and has no rubbing issues. He had a Daystar 2.5/1.5 and had some rubbing, but now is good. So, I think the GY Duratrac is slightly taller (like 32.1 vs 32.01 , so thats like .01") and maybe a bit wider (Can't find exact tread width specs on the Nitto TG). BigWebb83 gets minor rubbing with this tire when turning down certain inclines in reverse... He has a 3/2 Cornfed, not sure if I'll be higher than his Cornfed spacer lift.

Anyhow, I'll be installing my lift in a couple weeks (about to go on a vacation). After I do that, I'm going to take some measurements at different turning angles to try my best to calculate what I can fit without rubbing. Then I'll probably order th GY Duratrac (My 1st Choice), Nitto TG, BFGoodrich, or maybe a Cooper Zeon (in 285/60R18), but not sure about getting a lower profile tire and if that would fill up the wheel well enough! Otherwise I love the way the Cooper Zeon looks!

Im either doing the full OME or Bilstein 5100s with OME/Superflex coils.
Same price, just dont know how to do my coils if I go with Bilsteins.
Having someone help install is clutch ($$$$$$). WHen are you looking to get yours?

If anyone has some insight let me know:
If I run the 5100s at max (2.5/2) plus add straight OME or combo of OME/Superflex what is the total lift ft/rr?

2.5" from the 5100's and 2.5~3" from OME coils for the front. The rear lift comes from the coils. The rear 5100's arnt adjustable. So around 2.5" in the rear. Someone has paired up the two for close to 5" but cant remember who is was.

What lift do you have Casper???

So it could potentially be ~5" (5100 and coil) in the front and 2.5" (coil) in the rear?
This means that to not have a goofy looking stance there would need to be a spacer of some sort for the rear?

DuraTrac's just came in...Damn, the tread is aggressive and its a big tire...Hopefully with the 3" lift I wont need to trim anything, but as of now, it's a tiiiight fit by eyeballing it.

Correct. The Daystar 1.5" rear spacer would bring you to about 4" in the rear.

5100S aren't made to handle that much lift, not to mention added stress to the front end components. Bilstein doesn't recommend using lift coils of any sort if you use the spring perch for added lift. Anything over 3.5" and you'll need new ucas. I'd go 3.5" lift max, if you want more duo a body lift. 3.5" should be plenty to clear those tires.

What size Duratracs did you order and where from... TireBuyer.com?
