Lifted 99-2002 4runner Sport or Limited

I know this isn't the classifieds section but I don't have enough posts to post in that section. I am trying to find a lifted 99-2002 Sport or Limited, preferably a Sport in Grey, Black, Silver, or Green in good shape with relatively low mileage for the year. I am ready to buy now and had one I was going to purchase I drove 2 and half hours to look at it but the guy decided he was going to hold off on selling it. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I am in the Chattanooga, TN area.

you should look on craigslist man. the ideal seller wouldn't be a member on this forum anyways, it would be an old lady who never took it offroad.

Thanks man, I have been burning Craigslist down looking for one. I'd like to find one that already has a few things done to it, I will be on a limited budget and it would be a while before I could do the things I want to do. I have the money for a few things, but not enough to get it off the ground.
 
What you're looking for is exactly why I scout Craigslist & Autotrader regularly. That's about the exact model(s) I'd be willing to get a loan for to get into something 1) 4WD, 2) lower miles, and 3) cleaner inside & out. Otherwise I'll stick to no car payment and wish & dream about mods while SLOWLY going through maintenance items. Good luck on the hunt.

I appreciate it. I have been looking for the perfect one for about a month now.
 
as these trucks get older they are increasingly harder to find. Especially with popular options like 4WD, locker, flares, 16" wheels or leather.

When I origanlly bought my truck in 2002 I was only 22 (Navy at the time) and I though t they all came the same. I wanted it because it had 4wd and low miles. At the time of purchase (2002), I paid $17,900 for 97 4Runner Limited, 4wd w/ locker, mint condition, all stock and it only had 65k miles.

I plan on keeping it forever and my gf would never* suggest I sell it. My day driver is a Camry but I plan on buying a used IS250 or 330CI in a few years.

YA finding the exact options u want is going to be difficult since 4runners are starting to get harder and harder to find with this economy. If ur interested u can check out my build thread... mine might be for sale soon but is only 2wd.

Exactly, thanks man I appreciate it. I found a 2000 Sport with the E-locker about 2 1/2 hours from me, the listing showed 159,000 miles, a little higher than what I was wanting, I thought finally I found it, a bit of a sacrifice with the miles, but other than that it is perfect. So I started looking at the pictures and the odometer shows 174,000 miles. :confused: !!!!!!!!! I was a little heart broken. After the weekend my Jeep is supposed to be sold so I will be out of a vehicle.
 
As others have said, to find one quickly, you'll have to open up your options a little bit. I mean, sounds like they are fairly open now with the wider year range and trim packages, but they are still harder to find than many other vehicles and finding one, with low miles, and just happens to already be lifted to your taste might turn it into more of a needle in a haystack search. You can always mod one like you want it after you get it.

That is what I am beginning to change my plan too, I am just in hurry since I am having to start over again if the one i just talked about I would be picking it up this weekend.
 
The Kid just posted a link to one in Atlanta...already done up...maybe even more than you want. It has higher miles, but sounds like they are well documented.
 
Use the search function on craigslist and check places that maybe aren't local to you but you would be willing to go to get one. You may be doing that already. But, I find that some people aren't as on top of things as I am when I'm trying to sell things on there. I sold my daughter's car on a Friday and had been keeping my eye on 4runners while the car was for sale. But once we sold it, we wanted to get something else fairly fast. We spent Saturday morning scouring CL and auto trader, expanding our search radius as we went. The one I ended up buying (2000 Ltd. with 125k and already had quite a bit of work done to it) I found 5 hours away from me. I found on 11/19 by doing a search but the ad was placed on 11/7 and hadn't been renewed since. Usually when I see that, I assume they sold it. But I took a shot and sent an email and the guy still had it. It just happened to be on a city where my daughter's boyfriend goes to school so I was able to send him out to check it out for me. Turned out the guy wasn't pushing hard to sell it because he really didn't want to. It was his wife's DD and they got her a new Lexus, so he thought the T4R was going to be his toy. But she was pushing to sell it. You never know...

If you have an android phone, get the craigslist app. It notifies you when something pops up that matches one of your saved search parameters. Pretty handy

That's what I am using on my hunt for a project vehicle.
