Lifting a LE

Yes, i've searched almost every LE lift thread but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

I'm looking to install a spacer lift on my LE and i'm stuck between the Toytec Spacer lift with rear coils or the Daystar Lift kit.

Toytec- 3" front / 2" rear - $320 shipped
Daystar- 2.5" front / 1.5" rear - $135 shipped

Is the Toytec kit going to be worth the extra $200 for the .5" front and rear? What is involved with the install since I do have x-reas? I do not tow often and am just getting into OR. I'm mainly lifting for extra clearance. I do have a Shrockworks front bumper arriving in the next couple months and will try to fit 34" or 35's with the gained clearance.

I would go with a full CO setup but I do not want to scrap the x-reas system so soon. Seams wasteful.

Should I go with Toytec or save a couple hundred and go Daystar? Your thoughts? TIA!

I'm mainly lifting for extra clearance. I do have a Shrockworks front bumper arriving in the next couple months and will try to fit 34" or 35's with the gained clearance.

With the added weight you are going to want the front to be easily adjustable, ie coilovers. That front bumper is going to be heavy and will bring the front end down with just a spacer, which arent ment to hold extra weight.

I think if your going to do it, do it right. Agreed, learned this by modding other vehicles suspensions. Do it right do it once.

My recommendation would be to definitely get coilovers, which ones that is up to you after you research. I too originally only planned on getting spacers but then figured I would be adding weight as you are going to be. Remember you ordered a bumper and skids. I knew with the weight the suspension will settle a little lower and would need to raise it back up to get the lift I desired. Oh and the coilovers come assembled so there is less work to install. I feel as though I am rambling at the same time brain dead. If I am not there on Saturday be sure to talk with everyone about lifting and get their opinions.

I know it's best to do it right the first time. It's how i've done it with most of my cars but I just can't justify scrapping a perfectly good x-reas system. Plus I do like the way the LE drives with the x-reas. I've been tossing around the idea of swapping it all over for either Icon stage 2, OW w/ LR UCAs, or King w/ LR UCAs. The good thing is I do have 3 months to decide since the SW bumper won't be in for a while. That should give me enough time to beat up the stock system. On the other hand, a $130 lift compared to a $1700- $3000 lift can't be that bad of a mistake if i'm not going to do it "right" the first time. It's a relatively small investment with not much to lose. I think I may have just answered my own question. Thanks guys.

Unless you also want to install 4:56 gears you do not want to go with 35 inch tall tires. To fit 35's you will need more than a 3 inch lift as well. Also, if you are going to get that bumper you need to avoid spacer kits altogether. You are going to need more spring rate up front to compensate for the weight.

I had spacers at first. As I started going offroading, I just didnt like the thought of over extending the shocks. So I went with icon stage 2. I'm very happy with it. Since you're gonna get a front bumper, I suggest a full coilover. Who knows since you'll have the bumper off already, might as well through on a winch. Good luck with your choice

Going full CO's this week. Xreas will be pulled out.
