This thread will show pics of what's going on with Lima's Shrockworks bumper install.

He ordered from me (High Tech) at the end of July. With some custom requests, the order was placed. Bumper was received a little past due date, but luckily, Lima's move to Arizona was slightly delayed as well.

We got the bumper in a fairly timely fashion. Nothing like others have complained. But a little late, none the less. Mark @ Shrockworks was great to deal with. He was pretty good at returning calls and was accomodating with the lateness. I really couldn't complain too much as we were have something a little different done with the bumper.

Anyway, here's Lima's truck before for reference...

We ordered the bumper with no hoops and bare steel. So you can see the quality of welding and craftsmanship up close and personal. Those with a keen eye will see something slightly different.

Noticing some holes in the top at different spacing on each end of the winch location and the light holes are "oval" instead of the standard round. also looks like there is an opening over the fairlead hole.

Alright what else? haven't seen the back to often of these bumpers..

Edit: so why the bare steel? is it going to be color matched for that awesome stormtrooper look?

Here's a decent pic that shows how detailed Shrockworks is with their welds. The shackle mounts go through the bumper and then welded. Sorry, I didn't take a pic of the backside.

Those that have noticed, the hole for the turn signal is no longer for the crap Hella light that never seems to be sealed (ask Joneseyyy!). Knowing this from experience with the ARB bumpers with Jeeps and other Yota's, I wanted to get ahead of the game.

So, I spoke with Mark about a custom trailer light mount. Pretty simple really.

It's a sealed unit you can get in different colors, lenses, leds or not.

Now Lima can get replacement lights anywhere in the US (or Arizona).

I've already done the joneseyyy installation thread so I won't bore you with those details. But here she is mocked up.

Now comes some of the fun stuff!

Lima had a 20" Rigid E Series behind the lower grill. I recommended that we do something a little special for the light mount since he won't have the lower grill anymore.

Luckily, Lima let me go to work on his bumper. This is the exact same way I would want my bumper to turn out. So here we are welding the brackets for the light.

and Yes. We will be matching the powder coat from Lima's BudBuilt sliders.

Shrockworks does a nice semi gloss black but I wanted the bumper to match the sliders. It's also a common textured powder coat that gets very well used in the industry. So when Lima decides on other things that he'll want coated (rear bumper), it will be very easy to match.

I/we (High Tech) try to think ahead when it comes to some of the aftermarket installs. I believe this will prevent some of the mismatching products in the long run. It also brings the whole truck together nicely. I've had too many experiences with the Heep world. There is just too much junk out there and too many people adding too many things!!! (and people that use 'too' too much!).
 
Yes, it's for a small hoop. The angle finder is so that we can closely match the upper grill bends. Similar to what Shrockworks does.

I told my tech, Jeff (which some of you have met at the Antman Camp), that I wanted the hoop to "hug" the light as close as possible. And he did that with perfection. It's so close that you'll have to tilt the light down in order to remove it.

It's really turning out well. Very happy with the outcome.

We have now finished welding the hoop on, cleaned her up, and sent her out for powder coating. Both of the under headlight 'wings' have been sent out for a blizzard pearl match.

Like the "special touches" Bobby..nice job!! The bumper going to look killer with the finish you describe...then that damn kid's just going to take it out to CO. and scuff it all up..:redbrick:
 
OMFG I am so glad that's my truck otherwise I'd be calling and demanding an awesome custom bumper like that immediately!
 
Ducmonsta - wish there was a shop here in SoCal with as much experience with 5th gens as you and your team have :sobbing:
 
If I come across a big chunk of money my first call will be to a tax attorney. My second will be to High Tech. :boink:
