Limited 4x4 vs SR5 4x4

The part-time 4WD of the trail is "ok" for icey and snowy conditions but is better suited offroad.

Bull.

When you put a part-time 4WD system in 4WD, the front and rear driveshafts turn at the same speed.

When you put a 4Runner Limited's 4WD system in 4WD AND lock the center diff, the front and rear driveshafts turn at the same speed. There is no difference offroad between the two. None. Nadda. Zippo.

The Trail Edition has a locking rear diff, available KDSS, and better angles, so it is better offroad than a Limited. But those advantages have nothing to do with the lack of a Torsen center diff.

this might be a dumb question BUT, i keep seeing a black 2011 limited on my way to work. Since the drive i take is basically one lane each way, i keep finding myself behind this truck. I also drive a black 2011 SR5. When i am following this guy, i feel like the tires look "thin" on his limited. I get to my office, and i hop out and i look at my tires(from behind my truck) and i feel like my tires don't look as "thin" am i right? Or are these tires the exact same width?, etc?

Your tires are wider than his: the SR5 has a 265/70/17 vs the 245/60/20 width for the limited. Actually the 265 is about 10.4" wide vs the 245 at 9.6" wide. So about an inch difference. However, they are both the same overall height at about 31.6".
