Limited Edition Mod Thread

That's a badass limited pro! I wish I was as mechanically inclined as you are.Lol. Yeah,we spent an hour and half searching for all the parts that are required.I just don't get why they would want my VIN number in order to look for parts,I mean, they are all the same vehicles under these plastics,so they all should be compatible.

It looks like a major undertaking but seriously, anyone can do this mod themselves. It seems overwhelming but once you get into it, everything tends to fall into place and make sense. If you have the extra $$$ to pay for someone else or a shop/dealership to do the conversion, great. If you want to save money and are trying to find the most cost effective way, the best thing to do is try and find the parts needed used for way better prices, and get your hands dirty and do it yourself. There are people here that will help you with the install, including myself.

I got extremely lucky and found someone who was selling their off road front bumper with reinforcement/crash bar, brackets, and valance for $150. Granted, the bumper was all scratched up, but I knew it had to be repainted anyway. Whichever way you decide to go, good luck to you. This community has been great and very supportive.

Much obliged! Thank you for sharing your list and ADVICE! I will definitely send it to the shop. This will help us tremendously as they are still trying to figure out what parts are necessary and what are not!

i've updated the parts list reference from my previous post. i had two items missing which are the deflectors behind the grille. the limited ones are too big for the trd bumper. you could cut them, but i put the update ones so you can do it right :)

thanks to you.. you inspired me to do the limited --> trd bumper conversion :girl:

2013 Limited

I picked up my 2013 Limited on Friday of last week and have pulled off the side steps and installed an Eezi Awn K9 rack already. Rims, tires, and lifts coming at the end of the month hopefully so I can get this thing looking less like a soccer mom vehicle. :)

Thanks for the kind words but there were many others that did this before me and guided me in the right direction, so no way I can take credit. I'm glad I was able to help you and in return, it looks like you're doing the same. :bravo:

I agree, vin numbers are not really need to compare limited vs TRD parts. But they probably wanted to create build of materials to see what can be reused and which needs to be replaced.

One of the most expensive parts needing replacement is the metal crash bar/reinforcement. Buying that new is expensive, but as you may already know these are take-offs from guys who did a metal bumper or winch style bumper.

The other main parts you’ll need is bumper, valance, under headlight brackets, deflectors, mud guards and misc nuts and bolts.
lastly you’ll probably want to go with TRD pro skid plate or some after market one so no need to get the sr5/TRD style skid plates.

Here’s a parts list which you can reference. You’ll need the yellow items. Green transfer over.

Any idea if this swap can be done on a 2012 Limited?

also forgot to mention, limited fender liners will no longer match up. you can try to cut them to size and or just swap them out :)

mine is doing that on the drivers side! a trip to the body shop wont fix it???

The problem is that there is already paint damage on the right corner of lower bumper although the gap that pops out is on the left side corner next to the headlight. I don't want to pay labor or pay anything to have this corrected. I don't want to deal with being accused of causing it to pop out with this old damage from the previous owner if I try to have it corrected

lowkey theres like 30 pages of trd bumper swap posts. is this fast n furious or are we 4 wheelin?? lolamirite? if there was a dedicated thread that would make this way easier to navigate.

You have an option to just ignore the posts you don’t care for [emoji3061]

Pic of my nightshade with spacer lift with xreas is a couple posts above

I had 275 55 20 duratracs installed yesterday and have a slight rub reversing in full lock on this plastic tab. What should I try first?

^^ This. I just cut my liners and drilled new holes in the liners for the fender liner clips. Worked out fine and was one less item I had to obtain.

3 options:

1. use a heatgun and melt it down a bit--you wont be able to push it in very far
2. remove that bit
3. get an alignment with more caster

Thanks. I had a 1inch cornfed installed and aligned prior to getting the tires. Prior to asking the shop to try and get more caster, would you try the heat gun first?
