Limited Edition Mod Thread

This is more a question on use case and budget.

Sitting in the parking lot a spacer lift and replacing the XREAS with an aftermarket lift will yield the same results.

Driving on the highway and paved local roads (roads that do not see snow) will yield similar results.

Driving on southwest PA roads or on the beach or in the woods (logging roads) will immediately tell you the difference between a spacer lift or removing the XREAS with an aftermarket full lift. And there are varying degrees of aftermarket lifts.

You can spend 500 bucks or 4K. Parking lot stance will look the same. I’ve done both and for me the spacer lift is a great look...not so much benefit for my personal needs. I want the look with a better overall driving experience regardless of where I go.

I have a toytec spacer lift right now, but after driving a 4runner with the eibach pro truck kit, I immediately started sourcing parts. The 4runner I drove with the Eibach kit drove SO much better over bumps and speed bumps on the road. I feel like my XREAS produces such a jarring ride over small bumps it feels like my old WRX on coilovers..

Needless to say, I’m not sure if my XREAS is functioning properly or not after 70k but I have eibach pro shocks and dobinsons coils on the way.

You’ll love it. I believe the eibachs are progressive shocks, meaning the small bumps and such are easily absorbed, the more the are compressed the stiffer they get. 5100s are digressive, meaning much more stiff right away, but soften underload. Explains why the eibachs are so nice for city driving.

Did you want to say trd pro wheels?

Derp...Rims....sorry....bad time when I last posted. Hubby was fighting cancer. He has since died. My head wasn't in the right place. The 4Runner was the last thing he bought. He loved it.

Yes, Runtime is right, rims...TRD Pro rims. I'm not a suspension person. I owned a Mustang before this (and still do...I'm a muscle car person). The only reason I've kept the 4Runner is Hubby asked me to do so before he died. With time I've grown to love it. Named it Idris.

TRD Pro Rims...are they possible on this ridic 20" set up the Limited has...what would need to be changed or modded. Again, total newbie at this. It is also a 4x4. If y'all can point me to the right threads...advice...whatever...I'd greatly appreciate it.

According to Mark at Eibach, they use digressive piston design on both compression and rebound sides of the piston but with the use of preload and bleed gives the shocks a "linear feel at high speed dips" which translates to great balance and control on the street and sucks up bumps easily.

Sorry to hear about your husband. The 17" TRD Pro wheels will work without any modifications. Just ensure they come with the stock 265/17/70 wheels and everything should be good to go!

I don't think anyone was attacking you for saying wheels versus rims, I sure as hell don't care.

Took the OEM running boards & rockers off. I have some pro boards coming in and will call shrockworks on Monday to see if I can pick up a set of rocker panels.

Also got a pro shift knob in the mail.

Thank you so much BIGpharma for the kind words and advice! I really appreciate it. This helps immensely!

Painted interior pieces

Some may have seen this already on the limited FB page but I figured I would post here also. Painted all silver trim and wrapped the “log” and trim piece on the headliner and the shifter.

That looks really good. I want to try and tackle this too but I suck with wrapping and painting..

any tips? i really like how it came out?
Most of the center console and the trim up to the radio just pulls out, no screws. The passenger side trim piece is accessed by dropping down the airbag then taking out the glovebox. The trim on the doors requires the whole panel to come off. There are two or three plastic rivets like pieces to each trim piece on the doors that need to be cut off. Reassembly of the door panels didn’t require any glue to replace what was cut out to reinstall the trim pieces.

Once all pieces are removed I cleaned and lightly sanded the silver trim pieces with 400 grit.
I sprayed two to three coats of primer, base coat and then three to four coats of clear. They sat for for about five hours before reinstalling.

Wrapping can be difficult on more complex pieces. I just worked slowly around the pieces and used a heat gun to relax the vinyl wrap. Make sure to take your time and leave excess around the edges while you are working. I’d rather leave excess than cut it off and realize I won’t be able to cover a part of the whole piece to be wrapped. It’s pretty forgiving otherwise.
