Limited Edition Mod Thread

Yep I got a set of 5 take off ORP wheels from Facebook marketplace and 5 new Falken Wildpeaks for only 3-4 hundred more than it would have cost to replace 4 x 20” Yokohama oem tires. I did re use my oem tire pressure monitors so that saved a few bucks for now.

YEs best thing Ive done to the truck to date. I run 17s for AT, MT and Snows. Its cheaper, you have better choice in brands and frankly I dont like the 20s for much of anything.

You can see it in my sig, old pic missing most of the my mods, but zoom in to see the caps and trim panel and you get the idea.

how is that front cap held on with the trail rockers? I looked at doing the trail rocker conversion on my 2012 limited and one of the issues I found was the front cap piece only used 2 clips to hold it in place, the other 1 or two spots weren't there on the limited. with no mudflap to add as support I was sure that cap would break off when it gets covered with ice and snow. I feel like this is a pre 2014 issue because no one has really brought it up so any pre 2014s doing this conversion something to keep in mind

held in place with two small bolts. Seems rock solid. In winter with packed in snow and ice zero shift. Ive driven in heavy snow and ice here no issues. The mudflap is a universal I put in place with no trimming. Used about half a dozen christmas tree plug trim screws. Drill and push and pop types. No issues to date. Its been on a few years. There is a side rail trim piece held in with a few fasteners. Let me know if you need more info or pics.

ah thanks. ya it must be a pre 2014 thing then. no bolts in the cap for the 2012, just two plastic clips. if I ever get to the point where I get sliders I'll swap and deal with the consequences but for now I'll live with the factory rockers

Once you rip out the booster XREAS system on the center of the rail and remove rockers it will look alot better.

ya when my XREAS needs replacing I don't think I will put in another XREAS. I actually tried to remove it during the parts shortage of spring 2021. tried a few more specialized shops and not a single one of maybe 5 places I called would take my business. no parts and no people available at the time. my first XREAS lasted almost 160k miles though, so I might be waiting a while lol

Yes. It’s not cheap but it opens up so many more possibilities.

Thank y’all for the input! Y’all have decided it for me with your pictures! Planning on ordering all the parts on Friday and hopefully can knock it out next week!

The connector fittings even with a decent flare nut wrench get really rusty, its tough to remove in one piece. The fastest is use bolt cutters, a rag and a bucket. Once you snip alittle oil comes out, then the hard lines come out in sections, its easier to do than you think. The pressure of the oil coming out isnt to bad. I just put a rag over it and the mess was minimal if any. If you are able to install a new set of shocks, you can easily remove the XREAS.

Does anybody know what this piece is on the front grill? I don't see it on any other limiteds. Is it removable? Is it something they only put on the 2021s?

I thought someone might find value in the weights I've measured & calculated of the 20s and OE ORP 17s. I was surprised that I didn't save more weight going to the 17s. I still prefer the ride though. Be careful with tire weight on the 17s -- especially E rated can get really heavy and you'll feel it in accel/decel.

Limited 20s
Total weight: 73lbs
Wheel: 37lbs
Tire: 36lbs

ORP 17s
Total weight: 70lbs
Wheel: 31lbs
Tire: 39lbs

Note: Tire weights are approximate based on tire weights from tire rack. The total weights are based on a scale in my garage.

Very handy info! Ive been using this same info (scribbled on a notepad) to sorta help better understand if my wheel/tire change will negatively impact my MPG. Super helpful to have this info for a number of reasons! Thank you!

Things happened today. Eibach stage 2r kit, Dobinsins UCA, method 316, cooper AT3 4s, 285/70r17. Actually lost about ~5lbs per corner. Fender liner mod to get it all to fit. Don’t have a lot of time with it yet but so far I’m very happy.
