'Limited' model tire options?

I'm contemplating a new '17 Limited and was curious what tires come stock on it? None at my local dealer to look at currently.

Also, what are people upgrading to, if at all? I swapped out my OEM ones on my SR5 for the Destination AT's and have been very happy. However, Tirerack is only showing 5 options for tires for the Limited wheel (I remember people had few options years ago, guess not a lot has changed)

It shows the Dueler H/T & the Geolandar G96B botth as OEM tires for the '17 4R. Mine came with the Duelers as well in '09 - I would love the Geolandars if they are coming equipped as such, anyone know?

Half tempted to get the TRD Alloy Wheels for the additional $860, but not sure if that has to be ordered from the factory to get that pricing or if the dealer can figure it all out when it gets to the lot.

There are different opinions on the size of the 20x7J wheel and what tires will fit, but your best tire options will come with a different wheel (17x8 or 20x8-9). Toyota specs read 7.5 width, if they are correct. (*Sorry, that's 2016, I assume 2017 is the same but you'll need to pull those specs.)

Ask your dealer about swapping tires. The LE comes with highway tires, and the placards indicate replacement with similar tires, so not sure if the dealer will only replace with like tires (worth asking). Another tire vendor will surely give you more options, whatever these may be.

There have been discussion on the TRD wheels separately and it seems that Toyota now only sells them to you if you have a TRD VIN. (You can still get them off third party sites, or buy the FN knock off.)

Lots of information around this around the forum. I to have a limited and have contemplated getting the TRD wheels. I think I'm going to risk it and go with a 275/55 tire that so many others have been using.

As to the Geolander, it is a terrible tire. Be glad you got the Bridgestone.
 
My 16 LE came with the Bridgestones but I know the Yoko's were also an OEM tire. I ditched the 20" LE wheels for the TRD wheels pretty quickly so I can't comment too much but the Duelers were quiet and rode well and were overall a good tire for street driving where I live (FL). I like to play in the dirt and wanted a bit softer ride so the 17" TRD wheels fit my needs better.

You'll notice a nice improvement in comfort from stepping down to 17" wheels from the 20's that come on the Limited.

Interesting, they are still offered as an 'option' on Toyota's site when building any model 4R, but actually getting them may be different.

I will check out that other thread as well.

I plan to test a Limited out sometime in the next week or so. I am 'picky' on what I want and my fear is if I do not like the '18 changes I will not be able to get what I want for a '17. Might just bite the bullet, get the '17, and if I like the '18+'s trade it in a few years later after they work out the bugs. I know my '10 had a number of them to be worked out!

The FN's are 8" wide, which really opens up the available tire sizes and options over the OEM 7". If the OEM wheels came in 8" I'd say the FN's were a clear copyright violation, but they don't so it isn't.

If you have any plans of going wider than 275's you have to go aftermarket if you want everything to stay within specs. If you like the TRD look, then go FN.

Lots of people do successfully run 285's on 17x7's, but it's technically a liability issue if you have a blowout.

My '17 LE came with the Yokohamas, but I picked up a set of 17" take-offs from the dealer and loaded them with good snow tires.

My new-to-me 2011 Limited (purchased back in May 2016) came with stock 20" rims with Yokohama Geolandar tires. When I went looking for replacement tires this past fall, selection was definitely limited by the 20x7 rim size. I decided on getting the Michelin Premier LTX 245/60R20 tires (based on my previous positive experience with the Michelin LTX M/S2 tires I had on my 03 Limited).

I ran these Michelin Premiers through our Canadian winter (we got a good deal of snow and ice conditions my way), and they ran pretty well for an all-season. Yes, I agree that dedicated winter tires on smaller (17") rims would be ideal, but this is the set-up that I'll run for now.
 
I just put on some 275-55 ko 2's on my 16' limited...no mods needed and no rubbing.

I negotiated with the dealer to swap the Limited's 20's for TRD wheels and tires for no charge. Slight rub when at lock backing up, but overall I highly recommend it.

Recent post someone said the two '17 they saw on lot had different tires - Yoko or BStone I believe.

I have purchased 2 sets of SR5 wheels on this forum so now have 3 sets of tires to choose from - I like new tires!
