Limited or SR5?

Full time 4WD, automatic climate control (you will enjoy your truck way more with that if you live in cold weather), better suspension, and some more options to justify the price increase. Just look on toyota.com to know the difference.

We didn't drive a limited and to this day still haven't. Got the SR5 with the premium package because it had everything we wanted and nothing extra. And I plan on lift and tires anyway so the XREAS and 20's would have been a waste. Didn't want to pay the extra money for the few limited extras.

I thought the SR5 felt more lively compared to the Limited. I think the softer suspension and the part time 4WD had a lot to do with that. It depends what you want out of it, though. I wish I'd have bought a TE at this point. I like the exterior on the TE so much better and I think they will ultimately hold their value better. (Plus, I can't swing a dead cat in my area without hitting a Blizzard Pearl SR5 or Limited, lol)

I'm hoping to do a TE conversion on my SR5 and I think that will appease me. Lots of parts to swap, though.

Agreed. People say it's a "few" things, but all of the differences add up to a really different experience. A good example of one of the little details is the interior color matching on the doors. My brother has the SR5 and I honestly believe there are more sound deadening efforts on the limited as well.

Deep down I wish I got a Trail Edition though the KDSS is the best. I didn't know all this stuff when I bought my T4R.

I also had a hard time making the decisson between limited and SR5. After careful review, driving both, features and the price. I choose the SR5 with upgrade package including leather, nav. System, sunroof and back up camera.

While I am sure I would have loved duel climate control and all the other things that come standard with the limited model. I just couldn't make the numbers work between limited and sr5 model. As far as the nosie dive goes when breaking never had that problem. I do no That my sr5 feels lose in tight cornors but think that is the stock tires? I plan to run them for at least 20,000 k miles and change out to BFG all terrian. I am fixin to install leveling kit for the front, vent visors and n fab ruining boards. Then I will be done for while.

I would suggest test drive, review features and benfits of each, and the price. Then decide which 4runner is right for you. Decissons, Decissons, and decissions!!! Which ever one you pick I think you will be happy with it just have to figure out what you want and how much you want to spend.

If the Limited had the ability to engage 2WD like the older "multi mode" Runners I might have considered it, I didn't like the idea of the torque always being split especially with this particular motor being sluggish enough in 2WD imo.

Get the limited. I find it difficult to believe somebody would hate automatic climate control. Anyway. If you think the limited drives heavy the sr5 is not far behind. If that's your criteria then get an MDX as it will smoke the doors off of any Toyota based SUV regarding driving dynamics.

I'm sure the SR5 is fine. I live in Seattle (rain, lots of it) and am also up in the snow all the time during the winter and want the full time AWD at the sacrifice of gas milage. If I lived in So-cal I'd likely be rocking a SR5.

The Limited weighs a bit more but the torque split has no meaningful effect on power, except that more of it will get to the ground whenever traction is compromised.

It's a perception thing (for me) I don't like the way it feels unless I need it, I would want the choice not forced on all the time.

One of the reasons I sold my last vehicle which was full time AWD, I actually like the feel of 100% of the drivetrain going to the rear.

SR5 + Premium and 3rd row here.... wouldnt have it any other way! $32k OTD and I would have removed XREAS when I did a lift as well as scrapped the 20" wheels because the tire options just suck!

I would go TE before Limited personally.

I don't get the hating on the SR5 4wheel drive system. People want the ability to engage and disengage the 4wheel on the fly....you can on the SR5 its just a lever and not a dial. You can engage up to 55mph and disengage at any speed. I prefer that over all time.

Well I am in the same boat right now. My wife wants an SUV and I think she is set on a 4Runner. I’m deployed right now so I can say that I have not even set foot inside of either an SR5 or limited. Leather, NAV and 3rd row is a must for her. We live in Abilene TX so 4x4 is not a must for driving were we live but we do get a little bit of snow, sleet and some ice. I would also not like to be tied down if I want to venture up north during the winter. Also in a couple years when she gets the hankering for a different vehicle this will become mine and I can mod it out. So the limited has full time 4x4 correct? It cannot be switched to just to RWD at all? Does it still have a 4HI and 4LO? I can say that I hate Toyotas website for figuring out the differences in the models. What exactly is automatic climate control of the limited compared to the standard SR5? I think it that the front passengers can set their own temps. Is there any control over the rear seat passenger temps or fan speed? The SR5 still has rear vents correct? We will be going with tan interior, so is the doors on the SR5 tan like on the limited? The SR5 does not have the rear window switches on the outside like the limited either do they? I just bought a 2013 limited. As I came out of a 10 yr old Tundra with nothing fancy in it I wanted to upgrade a bit. I didn't look at the SR5, dealer only had a black limited on the lot to drive. I went with the silver one, easier to keep clean. It's a neat truck, still getting used to it and all the gadgets. Ride seems a little stiffer than my truck. Overall it's a great truck so far.
Don't get the Toyota step rails if you were thinking of it. The molding under the door blocks off most of the step so you have to put your feet at odd angles to get in. I've been fighting with the dealer and Toyota about this since I got the truck. At this point I'm going to try and have them removed and get my $600 back and find something else in the aftermarket.

Just bought a leftover 2012 LTD. Mine didn't have the running boards for some reason so I demanded another $450 reduction in price. After a quick look on ebay- you will find something reasonable.

Limited has 4H, 4H (locked center diff), and 4L (locked center diff). No locking rear diff in either. Limited has climate control; SR5 has air temp, vent, and fan speed dials (normal non feedback climate controls). There are rear vents, but neither model has controls for the back seats. Limited only has tan on the seats; door cards and instrument panel lowers are black. SR5 has tan on the door cards and IP. SR5 does not have the rear exterior window switches.

What exactly is automatic climate control of the limited compared to the standard SR5? You can set the temp individually or dual control for the front occupants. If heating, the fans do not come on to warm you up until the engine temp is up high enough. Not sure about cooling yet, it's 32 out.

Not sure, everything is folded down for my labradors.

Be careful about exterior and interior color choices, they are limited. My silver limited only came with a black interior.

ANSWER: On SR5 only 1 temperature setting and rear fan can be adjusted. On Limited, I am not sure .

ANSWER: SR5 has switches/control on all five windows (Canadian Upgrade Package). I'm not sure with US version.

I can't imagine a third row in my truck. On my dad's Denali the third row seats are always out in favour of cargo room, so I'm wondering how useful the rear seat is anyways. When do you carry more than 5 people with no luggage? if you're driving the kids to soccer you should have a minivan!! Just kidding, but yeah...

We recently purchased a 2011 T4R Limited 3rdRow after considering purchasing a new SR5. I had not planned to spend the extra money on the limited but as a CPO, it came out less than a new SR5 and we would have had to order a SR5 with the third row. We have been very happy with the limited (with exception of the Nav/Audio lock outs). Actually the third row is not too bad for Kiddos. It is not as roomy as our Burban but it is great for hauling multiple kiddos to and from school or practice. We actually had a hard time finding a third row T4R which still baffles me since it can come in handy in a pinch. Would I fill that row with humans for a cross country trip? Absolutely not, but for around town it works perfectly and when not in use folds flat into the rear floor so the cargo area does not suffer with the third row like a Tahoe, Yukon or Sequoia.
