I have found 2 limited 4runners I like, both 2012 models, both same miles, and both will end up about the same OTD price for me. One does not have the JBL system, nor 3rd row, and the other does have JBL with a 3rd row. 3rd row is not necessary for me but I like music and love good sound quality. So my question is will I be able to tell a difference with the JBL system which I think has 15 speakers versus the non with 8?

Yes, huge difference. For the price difference, you could do better aftermarket though.

Have a look at this - Most of the 'extra' speakers are just better quality coaxial speakers that they count as 2, plus the sub.

If the two cars are equal, and one has the JBL system, and you really want better fidelity, get the car with the JBL.
Edit - I test drove both versions, and the JBL is noticeably better.

Yes, the JBL has a sub and amp in the cargo area. Speakers are in dash, doors, rear hatch.

The JBL is fantastic, one of my favourite things about the truck.
And while I didn't think it could be improved much, this recent thread about a DPS streaming app upped the ante even more, with great results.
You can always remove the third row seats and use the space for storage.

The JBL in my 2014 limited is great for a stock system. It is significantly better than the stock stereo in my 2010 SR5.

I thought all 5th Gen Limiteds had the JBL 15 speaker stereos. Just they were Nav ,as most were ,or non Nav JBL's with the orange background and difficult to read black text.Should say JBL though on the face somewhere.That's the way they used to be in 2010-2013's at least and has been discussed before a couple of times . ...... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-g...11-install-navigation-system.html#post1048826

My LE had the Entune with nav but it did not have the JBL speakers/sub/amp. I prefer aftermarket anyway though.
