Welcome back, traitor. This front axle is KidV approved. I see lots of good ideas I'm going to rip off for my own.

Tell me about the Mayhem spacers. I saw his thread but I didn't realize he was marketing those. I assume they're press fit, did you jam them in there and hope for the best or how did you verify they were straight before you burned them in? Also, how much were they?

haha i was expecting to get some crap from you, guess i had it coming :)
the mayhem spacer is a 'light' press-fit, so if the axle was straight before it should line up and stay straight, that' the benefit of a press-fit. now to do it right you'd want to build a jig like he did, but i took my chances. Before welding the truss on i took it to a local axle shop to have him look it over and said it was straight. he's been building axles for 15+ years and said his eye was pretty dang close so that was good enough for me.
I believe i paid 70$ for the spacer. I only did +3 on the short side so i could run the TG +3 axle shafts. he sells 2", 3" and 4" spacers now though and i believe he'll do other sizes for a little extra. In retrospect, i should have just gone with RCV's and made the axle another 3" wider, but at least i have the advantage of off-the-shelf shafts if i ever do break one. If i had the money i'd still say just go buy the TG tacoma width housing and call it done, this was a lot of work!

Locker actuator wasn't working right so i took it off and cleaned it up. I really need to get a smartphone cuz pictures of this thing woulda been epic... the motor was completely full of mud. not sure where water is getting in, but i cleaned it all up and used lots of RTV. works great now. i'm ready for Spring Creek Tomorrow....
 
its getting hot and no a/c is killing me in the runner. here's my question, my '85 pickup has wing windows and a functioning a/c, while my 4runner has neither. i'd love to get the ac going in the 4runner but in the mean time, how hard would it be to swap the wing windows over? i read a few posts where people said its possible, but was hoping to see a write up or at least some pictures of the process. thanks

Ran spring creek last weekend. it was my 3rd attempt (got lost and/or ran out of time the first 2 times) :)
























 
I got a deal on some new-to-me shoes. Nitto trailgrappler MT's. have a fair amount more tread than my MTR's and they ride soooo much more smooth, i couldn't ever get the MTr's to balance quite right. Took the opportunity to go back to black wheels, i never could get used to the "bling" the other ones had. these are cheapies from discount, level 8 tracker 17x8.5 with 4.5" B.S. pushed the tires out another 3/4" or so on each side, i like the more aggressive look!







Tried them out in some mud during hunting season, these tires did awesome! i'm very happy with them
