Load capcity

I once carried 1.8 tons of wet gravel in the back of a 1/2 ton Chevy pickup (the loader operator didn't stop when I waved). The springs were flat and it handled like a drunken whale, but I got to my destination.

The GWVR is set conservatively and will provide full handling safety at the limit. But structurally it's totally possible to exceed GWVR if you slow down, drive carefully around curves, and leave plenty of stopping room.

You can load more than you think in the back of your 4Runner, especially if you let the seats down to distribute part of the load to the front tires.

It's your life and your vehicle, though. Don't simply trust some random guy on the interwebz. You can get a 12-ft flatbed UHaul trailer for about $30/day. Compared to the cost of 40# pavers it'll be negligible.

HELP! I have a similar question. I am hauling a load of brick pavers 40# a piece. Trying to figure out how many I can load at once. Please help! How much weight can go inside my suv?

Those would have to be damned big pavers!

FWIW, I've had 1000# of flagstone in mine twice. I put the seats down and biased the load to the front and middle. It wallowed a bit, and you for sure have to mind your stopping distances loaded like that.

Is it possible to exceed GVWR yup, is it safe nope. God forbid something were to happen 1) factory warranty is void, 2) you are 100% liable.

Just sayin'.................
