Logos/Trade Marks

I have a 02 runner and i was washing it the other day and came across my trade marks like the 4Runner on the back tailgate and Limited Edition and all those things now mine are well they were a gold color metallic gold to be exact. Now they are faded out. How do i go in replacing them or getting then re-painted ? I heard that they are electroplated? is that true?

Ebay has some replacement options.

Dealer, obviously, new ones at a price.

Junk yards with some leg work, although a lot of leg work for just emblems.

Or you could remove them entirely.

take them off, use a reliable auto grade primer, (duplicolor, sem, etc. ) then desired color coats, and a few clear coats on top. THis should do the trick and still be easy on the wallet.

There is a thread a guy did a while back under the DIY stuff for painting the emblems...I've been thinking about doing it for a while but I haven't had the time
