Longest trip with your 4R?

That's south route. If it were me, i'd take I-40W, then I-500-sumthin' to Las Vegas. Then I-15 (South) towards Los Angeles. Cut thru Barstow I-47 (i think) or 40-sumthin' (you'll see it on the I-15W freeway) to Bakersfield. Then hop on I-99 (North) towards Sacramento. Then take I-80W to San Francisco. From my place the way i drive, it takes me 6 hrs to NM, from NM it takes me 7 hrs to Las Vegas. I spend a night out of the town there. Then from Las Vegas, it takes me 8hrs to Sacramento and from Sacramento (due to heavy traffic) it takes me 2 hrs to San Francisco. Pretty much a 2-day trip. Happy Trails!

To add: If you go this route, you'll get to go thru the Hoover Dam before you hit Las Vegas. Once in Vegas, anything happens there stays in Vegas. :naughty: If you need service along the way, there's a Toy dealer in Albuquerque, NM. Another one in Las Vegas. Another one in Bakersfield, Fresno, and Sacramento. Beware of CHP once you're in CA soil. Good Luck!

Edmonton Alberta to San Diego (via Portland, Oregon Coast, California coast, San Fran, Big Sur, malibu, Disney, ....).
Back to Edmonton Via LA, thru Grand canyon, Utah, Montana and finally back to Edmonton.
Roughly 4500 miles in about 14 days.

In 2001 right after I bought the 2001 4Runner I went to the northern tip of Newfoundland. My son wanted to see where America was discovered by the West. Heck, I Cloumbus discovered America, I guess I was wrong. It was about 5,800 miles, not including the ferry ride. We camped all the way.
In 2005 I took a trip out west ending in Yellowstone. This time I had a camper. Still around 5,800 miles. The 2001 4Runner did great on both trips. Both trips took about 4 to 5 weeks each.
I haven't taken the 2004 on any really long trips yet.

It cracks me up how many of us go to play in CO with our 4Runners. This was from my trip last year. Hey, any of you CA locals.....I'm going back out to CO again this Oct. if anyone wants to make it another 4Runner caravan trip!
I go via Hwy 50 to 70 and then back to 50 outside of Grand Junction since my stop is in Montrose CO, so if not CA....I go through NV & UT as well and can always meet up in between.
Anyway...2,704.2 miles.
Here's my proof. Taken the wee hours I arrived back home about a week later.

My 2 past trips:
1 - 2008 - Massachusetts (50 miles West of Boston) along I-90 to Yellowstone, stopping in the Badlands, Devil's Tower (Wyoming), and Glacier National Park. Forget how long it was - beautiful drive after you got West of Chicago.
2 - 2009 - Mass. to Gettysburg, D.C., Quantico (National Museum of the Marine Corps), Charleston, Parris Island (Marine Corps Recruit Depot), to Orlando, then Pensacola, up to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
3. 2010 - Mass. out to the Denver area (JOB INTERVIEWS!!!!!!) up through Wyoming, cross the Continental Divide, into Grand Teton National Park, then back into Yellowstone. Man I cannot wait.......
Each trip is about 2,400 miles or so one way.

Beginning of the summer moved out to Indiana (dump BTW) for a mechanical engineering internship ~ 756 miles. Bout to move back next Friday to NJ, needless to say Im QUITE EXCITED. That trip will be about 1k miles as Im heading to my beach house after unpacking. Im driving straight through the night.
On another note, the 4R is my second car (Im 21) however, it has taken me to DC, VT, MD, VA, IN and other places.
Im at ~53k miles in less than 3 years of ownership. I got my 07 new on January of 08.

Since I've only had mine for 2 weeks, I haven't put too many miles on it yet. The most has been 200 miles in one day of driving all over the place running errands.
But next weekend we're going to a wedding in Iowa. I think it's about 450 miles one way.

I always dreamed of being a ski bum, decided to do it this past winter. I drove over 26,000 miles this past year, 3/4 of which were done January thru July. I drove from Seattle to Idaho up to Retallack, BC, back down through Utah and went to Taos, NM, drove up through Colorado, back through Utah and Idaho, back to Mt Baker, then back down to Lake Tahoe, Redwoods National Park, down to Arizona and back through to Idaho and thus back to Seattle.
The truck drove perfect, never stuck or ran into any issues.

1600 miles...I bought my new '10 4runner in Boston and drove it back to New Orleans.
